An 82-year-old man has been charged with the murder of his wife after she was found dead at their home.

Ronald Mowbray was arrested after the body of 80-year-old Ann Mowbray was discovered shortly after 8.20am at a property on Allendale Crescent in Studley on Monday, Warwickshire Police said.

The force said her next of kin has been informed and the suspect is believed to be her husband.

Mr Mowbray is due to appear at Warwickshire Magistrates’ Court tomorrow morning.

Formal identification and a post mortem are yet to take place and a scene guard remains in place at the location, police added.

Superintendent Suzanne Baker from Warwickshire Police said the death was being treated as an ‘isolated incident’.

She said: ‘An investigation has been launched and we are working to establish the circumstances of the woman’s death, which is currently being treated as murder.

‘An 82-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and he is in police custody.

‘This is currently being treated as an isolated incident, and it is believed the suspect and the deceased were known to each other.

‘Our thoughts remain with the family of the woman, who are being supported by specially trained officers at this time.’
