The street where a road rage row left a 68-year-old pensioner fighting for his life has been plagued by parking problems for years, locals have said.
Neighbours today told of ‘constant arguments’ as the victim remained in a critical condition in hospital.
Police say the victim, who was driving a black Volkswagen, was attacked by a white Mercedes driver aged in his 20s in a dispute over parking on the evening of Friday April 20.
The OAP was not taken to hospital immediately but the Mercedes driver was arrested on suspicion of GBH after his condition ‘deteriorated’.
His alleged attacker is being questioned over the attack in a residential street in Enfield, north London.

Plain clothed detectives investigating the assault have asked nearby businesses of CCTV footage of cars leaving the road.
Uniformed officers have also conducted door-to-door inquiries at the terraced homes lining both sides of the road.
Georgina Agamemnonos, 29, a mother-of-one and teacher who has lived in the street for three years, said: ‘Parking is a nightmare. There are constant arguments. We literally pull the curtains and we can hear them.
‘Because it’s such a narrow road people refuse sometimes to reverse and there has been arguments. So it’s not the first time but we haven’t actually heard about a fight.
‘Residents in this road have tried to get it one way, which would be a life saver.’
Another resident, Marlene Vyse, 69, said she and her husband John were moving away from the area because of the parking.
Mrs Vyse who has lived in the street for 18 years said: ‘There’s a lot of problems really because a lot of people park a lot of people park to get on to a train to go to London.
‘My husband was born in this house. We are moving because we’ve had enough of all this upheaval with the cars down here because you can’t park.
‘You get a lot of abusive stuff down here when people won’t back up and you can see there’s cars parked on both sides.
‘My husband was a building surveyor for Enfield Council and he’s brought it up a couple of times – doing this to the road so it could be one way.
‘He’s tried to contact a couple of councillors in the area. They’ve ignored him. You get a lot of people one down here being abusive to other people.’
