An elderly man nearly had his hand bitten off by a circus tiger yesterday in China.

Onlookers saved the pensioner by hitting the tiger using long wooden poles until it let go of the man’s hand.

A pensioner is seen feeding food to a lion and a tiger on the street of Xichuan, central China

The incident occurred in Xichuan, central China’s Henan Province, where a circus group was delivering the animals into the town on November 22.

The animals were kept in cages on a truck which stopped in a plaza. It’s reported that the circus was going to perform in the plaza at night.

One pensioner can be seen feeding food to a lion and a tiger as he stood closely to the cage.

However, there were no circus staff giving warning or stopping him.

The lion walked away after eating the food, but the tiger started biting his right hand and refusing to let go.

The tiger gnawed on his hand hard and tried to pull the old man closer to the cage.

A man came with a long pole and hit on the truck to distract the big cat.

The tiger finally let go when the man stuck the pole into its mouth.

The pensioner fell onto the floor immediately with his hand seriously bleeding.

It appeared that his wrist and elbow were severely wounded.

He was sent to hospital for emergency treatment.

It’s not sure which circus was responsible for the performance. No related statement has been released by the local authority regarding the incident.
