Maura Higgins was seen for the first time on Saturday since revealing her split from fellow Love Island star Chris Taylor.

Joined by her best friend Molly-Mae Hague, the Irish beauty, 30, filled up on petrol while maintaining a steely expression in the wake of claims that she has moved in with her pal as she goes through her heartache.

Sporting a cosy nude tracksuit, Maura was perfectly made-up for the outing which came just days after she joined Chris in making their statements via Instagram.

Maura is said to have moved in with Molly-Mae at the home she shares with beau Tommy Fury, who is away at a boxing training camp in Las Vegas.

According to reports, Maura has turned to her fellow Love Island star, 21, for support, with Molly-Mae said to be keen not to leave her friend alone during this period.

A source speaking to The Sun claimed: ‘Maura turned to her bestie for support during her split and has been using their home as a crash pad.

‘It’s worked out perfectly because Tommy has just flown off to boxing camp in America and Molly hates staying on her own. Maura is going to stay there until she works out what she wants to do next and where she wants to live.’

MailOnline has contacted Maura and Molly-Mae’s representatives for further comment.

‘There is no wrongdoing on either side… we still love, care and respect each other deeply. From the minute we met each other we’ve been very close friends and that will never change. There is no regret, life is about taking chances.

‘We wanted to make this work but we have realised we work better being friends. Whilst I appreciate people may speculate or create false stories this is the truth.

‘I wish Chris nothing but the best and I will always be one of his biggest supporters. Thank you for all the love and support’.

Meanwhile, the statement released by Chris, also 30, read: ‘Hey guys, after some very heartfelt conversations over the past few days, myself & Maura are very sad to announce that we have decided to part ways.

‘We are both still on very good terms and this was a mutual decision where nobody had done anything wrong. We will remain friends, as we have been since day one and I will always be in Maura’s corner and have her back…

‘We are both going through a very tough time with this atm, so please take any speculation with a metric tonne of salt, p.s this is the only truth (and as always trolls can kindly f*** off)…

‘Thank you for all the love and support you’ve given us, it’s truly been appreciated’.

Just two weeks before the announcement, Maura spoke to MailOnline about the prospect of marriage and how happy they were together.

She said: ‘He lives two minutes away from me down the road but we may as well be living together because we stay with each other every single day…

‘I feel like he practically is living with me – he has a very small drawer…

‘We definitely have spoken about it but there’s no rush, when it happens it’ll happen. We get on so well, we very rarely have arguments, and we just have a good laugh together…

‘Like every couple we have our bickers, he does silly things like leaving the fridge door open. We have spoken about getting married – we’ve often spoken about where would we like to get married and would I like Ireland or England, stuff like that…

‘I do feel like I’d probably want an Irish wedding, which is a crazy, big party. I’ve had an image in my head for years but everyone I know that’s got married always says ‘you’ll never wear what you thought.’ I’d like something very simple…

‘I don’t feel like I’m going to even cover up on my wedding day!’

In February, the couple discussed their unexpected relationship after going public with their romance during a romantic birthday getaway to Dubai.

Talking about their relationship, Maura and Chris praised their ‘great sexual chemistry’ and admitted that they never predicted their romance happening.

The couple, who were best friends prior to being a couple, revealed that they realised there was a spark in November, eight months after her split from Curtis.

Talking to The Sun’s Fabulous magazine, the couple shared that Chris made the first move after he kissed Maura and he was also the first to drop the love bomb.

Maura told the publication that they would ‘always cuddle’ as friends as they formerly shared the same bed on Love Island so it ‘wasn’t weird.’

She said: ‘We would have a cuddle on the couch or lie in bed watching movies or whatever, and then exactly what he said, our faces were very, very close together. Chris kissed me and I kissed him back.’

Discussing their ‘great’ sexual chemistry and sex life, Maura admitted that she was worried it would be ‘quite awkward’ after being friends for so long but that they haven’t ‘really struggled’ with that at all.

Admitting that they are both on the same ‘wave length’, Chris cheekily revealed: ‘We have great sex, and lots of it!’

Maura also shared that she finds Chris’ tattoos ‘sexy’ while he sweetly revealed that the Irish beauty is at her ‘sexiest’ when she’s got ‘no make-up, no bra and scruffs on.’

Also during the interview, Maura admitted that she ‘wasn’t interested like that’ initially with Chris after they met on the 2019 series of Love Island, where she left the villa with Curtis, 25, and Chris was coupled up with ex Harley Brash.

The couple recalled how all their friends kept commenting on their ‘chemistry’ with the duo insisting they were ‘just friends’.

While Maura and Chris both worried about ruining their friendship before becoming romantic, joking that they went ‘straight in’ with ‘no messing’.
