People are shocked to learn Barbie has a secret last name

It was revealed that Barbie has had a last name since her creation but no one had any idea, sending the internet in hysterics.

Fans of the Mattel doll were completely shocked to find out that Barbie actually has a last name and they were absolutely dumbfounded to find out her full name is really Barbara Millicent Roberts.

The official Twitter account of Barbie posted a photo on April 10 for National Siblings Day of her with her three siblings writing: ‘Happy Siblings Day, from the Roberts sisters!’ sending the internet into a tizzy over the shocking news.

After the tweet was posted, the comments section was flooded with people expressing their shock and confusion because no one knew who the ‘Roberts sisters’ even were. 

‘When the hell did Barbie get a last name?’ one user commented while someone else replied, ‘Who the hell are the “Roberts?”‘ 

‘Barbie has a family name?????? What,’ one person wrote while another woman hilariously shared: ‘I always thought Barbie was like Cher and had no last name.’ 

One person went so far to write, ‘How dare you,’ tagging Barbie’s Twitter handle, while another woman posted: ‘Um since when did Barbie have a surname?’

‘Barbie Roberts… Noooo ew it’s just Barbie,’ a very disgusted fan of the doll wrote as someone else hysterically begged: ‘I demand to see a birth certificate.’  

Other users shared how disappointed they were with Barbie for keeping this information from them.

‘We did not vote on this last name and I’m truly offended by this careless decision,’ one woman commented while someone else hilariously said: ‘Excuse me you’re not allowed to have a last name.’

Another hilarious tweet came from one woman who wrote simply: ‘I’m uncomfortable with this information.’

‘Barbie has a last name…MIND BLOWN,’ a shocked fan commented as someone else was more upset with her first name than her surname writing: ‘BARBIE IS A F*****G BARBARA?? WHAT??’

People of all ages from all across the country were disgruntled by the newfound information.  

One woman shared: ‘I’m 42, and I just found out the full name of my very first Barbie and all subsequent Barbies,’ as another went so far to say, ‘My childhood is a lie lol.’

Meanwhile, some people actually new Barbie’s full name because of old fictional books that were published and apparently some of the old dolls used to have a bio about her life on the box.

Some people were enthralled by the doll’s life story and one woman even wrote, ‘I’m legit following Barbie after this tweet! Who knew she had a whole life, bio AND a damn wiki page!’

Aside from the shock of finding out her last name, others were just as baffled about her siblings and family members. 

‘Barbie has siblings… underneath what rock have I been living?’ someone asked while another person wrote, ‘Who are these extra people, I only knew about Kelly.’

Those with the last name Roberts were ecstatic about the news and tweeted about how they might be related.   

‘I can now die. Barbie’s last name is Roberts. Thank you for everything, universe,’ one person wrote.

One user Mike Roberts joked, ‘Oh, look! All my little cousin in one place. Barbara Millicent, you need to show up at the family reunion this year.’

While most people that Barbie never had a last name at all, others assumed she had an obvious last name.  

‘I always thought her last name was “Doll,”‘ someone actually commented while another person admitted, ‘Wait I thought your surname was Doll. Barbie Doll.’

Another funny tweet read: ‘Ok I know we are all flipping out that their last name is Roberts is no one going to address the trendy Paramore tee.’

In maybe one of the funniest exchanges on the tweet, one woman wrote: ‘I just looked up Ken’s name and it’s actually Ken Carson. Like what!?’ to which someone immediately replied asking, ‘So shouldn’t it be Barbie Carson?’

In response to Barbie Carson the woman wrote back: ‘I’m pretty sure they aren’t married but idk – even if they were she’s too iconic to take his last name.’

The shocking news of Barbie’s real name has actually never been a secret and has been around since her creation by Ruth Handler in 1959. 

Ruth, an American businesswoman was inspired by a German doll Bild Lilli after taking a vacation in Europe with her two children Barbara, who Barbie is named after, and Kenneth, who Barbie’s boyfriend is named after. 

A series of books were published by Penguin Random House in the ’60s featuring a fictional biography of Barbie’s life.

According to the novels, Barbie was born in the fictional town of Willows, Wisconsin and raised by her parents George and Margaret Roberts.
