Personal trainer drinks 12 bottles of pre-mixed VODKA

A personal trainer who ‘loves to drink’ says he’s able to maintain his physique because he’s developed a ready-to-drink vodka that’s ‘sugar and carb-free’.

On an average Saturday, Dene Flude, 28, from New Zealand, will drink 12 bottles of Pure Amino Vodka – and says the five per cent alcohol sparkling vodka drink is a healthier alternative to traditional booze.

‘I will drink it every weekend and keep enjoying my social life but at the same time not let it affect my training,’ Dene told Daily Mail Australia.

The successful trainer, who already sells an amino-acid based ice-cream and powders aimed at athletes, claimed that the day after drinking vodka from his brand he feels ‘much better’ than he would if he was to drink regular alcohol.

‘I love to drink and socialise. It’s hard to go to the alcohol store and find something that isn’t full of sugar,’ Dene told Stuff.

Each 300ml bottle is the equivalent of 1.2 standard drinks and contains 100 percent natural ingredients.

‘Pure Amino Vodka is perfect for anyone who leads an active lifestyle but also enjoys a social life that includes drinking alcohol,’ the product’s website states.

‘Now you drink whilst staying hydrated, consume our Pure Aminos and enjoy the next day without that awful hangover.’

Dene’s desire to be able to go out and drink on the weekend without consuming an excessive amount of sugar is what led him to creating the beverage.

Dene said that he has noticed clients losing results because of the sugar-filled drinks they consume.

Dene is bringing out three vodka flavours, which are coconut, raspberry lemon and strawberry kiwi.

‘I created this because I wanted it myself and to also create something for others who care about their health and well being,’ he told Daily Mail Australia.

‘I’ve added amino acids and have used plant based sweeteners erythritol and stevia which don’t affect blood insulin like sugar.’

He said he has chosen to use taurine as opposed to caffeine because he believes it ‘has so many more health benefits’.

Dene also explained that he knew he wouldn’t be able to change alcohol consumption but said he knew he could find a healthier option.

Although there is no added sugar and no carbs, health experts have expressed concern about the product.

Dr Andy Towers, a senior lecturer at Massey University, told Stuff that these drinks are ‘not necessarily anything new’.

‘To be honest, I would still put them in the same package. There might be slight differences in the amounts of sugar, [but] this is not a health drink,’ he told the publication.

‘It’s like a bullet coated in icing sugar — it’s still a bullet.’

Dene responded by telling Daily Mail Australia that he agreed that alcohol ‘is still not good for you’.

‘I’m not trying to say that. I’m saying this is a healthier alternative,’ he said.

‘A ready-to-drink that is not full of sugar and artificial stuff and mainly water is always a better option.

‘I’m sorry, no matter how qualified you are, that’s basic.’

Dene took to his Facebook account to announce this business venture to friends.

‘Pure Amino Vodka RTDs [ready-to-drinks] are mainly water so will keep you hydrated all night whilst drinking.

‘They are flavoured and sweetened naturally, then I have dumped my four favourite amino acids into it,’ he wrote.

‘Now you can get the buzz of being drunk and the benefits of the amino acids while avoiding all the sugar, artificial stuff and reduce that awful hangover!’
