A personal trainer whose clients include David and Candice Warner has admitted to  assaulting and spitting on his pregnant former partner.

Wayne Robert Geber, 47, punched Helenna Haddad in the face when she was five months pregnant with their child, according to court documents lodged with the Downing Centre Local Court.

The court heard the Bondi man, who was arrested in August last year, also spat at her during three violent years of a four-year relationship, The Daily Telegraph reported.

The dark picture painted by the court documents describing years of domestic violence couldn’t be more different to the wholesome public image of the personal trainer.

On his WG Fitness Training website, Geber boasts testimonials from high-profile sports stars David Warner, Wendell Sailor, and Channel Nine journalist Peter Overton.

Warner says on the website he has trained with Geber since he was 17 years old.

‘Whenever I am back in Sydney I always make sure Wayne and I can train together,’ the former Australian vice captain said.

‘I appreciate his honesty and he will always let me know where my fitness levels are at.’

Rugby League and Union legend Wendell Sailor said not many trainers came close to ‘Gebes’.

‘He was there for me during my tough period away from the game,’ he wrote.

Newsreader Peter Overton described Geber as a ‘superb trainer’ and ‘a top bloke to boot’.

Behind the ‘top bloke’ facade were dark secrets of domestic violence, according to court documents, which reveal Ms Haddad suffered black eyes and a perforated eardrum during their troubled relationship.

The documents said that on one occasion, Gerber put her in headlock and spat on her at home after a yoga class because he was angry about something she said to the teacher.

‘Every time you raise your voice I will spit on you,’ he told her.

Another time he became angry when Ms Haddad, five months pregnant with his child, didn’t check in with him when he was sick at home.

She walked in and he complained so she told him to ‘shut up’.

Enraged, Geber replied ‘shut up or I’ll smash you in the face,’ punching her on the right side of the jaw.

Geber was arrested in August 2019 on 23 domestic violence allegations – each of which he denied – before later pleading guilty to four counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and two counts of common assault.

Seventeen other assault charges were dropped.

Ms Haddad was present at the Downing Centre Local Court on Monday where the case was adjourned until June 10 by Magistrate Joan Margaret Baptie.

Geber has been given a chance for intervention and rehabilitation, however his lawyer’s request to be put on a conditional corrections order was denied by Magistrate Baptie who said domestic violence perpetrators need supervision.

Mr Geber and Ms Haddad are no longer in a relationship.
