A grieving father has penned a heartbreaking tribute to his daughter after the three-month old baby died from horrific brain injuries allegedly inflicted by another man.

Elyssia ‘Ely’ Kaiden Dawn Ahrens died on March 14, two days after an incident at a home in Girrawheen in Perth’s northern suburbs.

Police have charged Zach Meier, 30, with her murder but have not yet clarified the nature of his relationship with the girl or her parents.

The baby’s father Robert Ahrens posted a eulogy on his Facebook just days later mourning the loss of his young child.

‘My baby girl Elyssia (Ely) taken from us way too early at only 3 months old,’ Mr Ahrens wrote four days after her passing.

Meier was initially charged with causing grievous bodily harm but the charge was upgraded to murder in Perth Magistrates Court on Monday after the infant’s death.

He was remanded in custody before appearing in Stirling Gardens Magistrate’s Court on April 28.

Friends of Elyssia’s grieving parents have rallied around the family, with one creating a GoFundMe to help pay for funeral costs for the toddler.

Kel Duffield has seen her fundraiser already surpass the $5,000 target after an outpouring of support from the community.

‘My thoughts and love go out to Sarah, Rob and their families at this terrible time,’ Ms Duffield posted on the crowdsourcing website.

‘With the loss of their beautiful little princess Elyssia. Taken from them at such a precious young age, we are all in absolute shock and disbelief that such a tragedy has taken place.

‘Please help in raising funds to help Sarah and Rob give their princess the farewell she rightly deserves. Tonight a beautiful precious angel gets her wings….fly high princess Elyssia, we will miss you so much.’
