A man has been charged with the murder of a three-month-old baby, believed to be his grandson.
Wayne William Downing, 47, from Perth, was charged with murder on Wednesday in Midlands Magistrates Court in relation to the death of the baby boy, 9 News reported.
Police said the baby died from injuries inflicted on a property in Midland in Perth’s northwest in May 2016, and an investigation into his death is ongoing.

Downing took to Facebook two years ago to pay tribute to the baby.
‘My first grandson Noah Jayde Downing missed deeply & every day xx’.
The baby’s mother and relatives were in court and appeared emotional.
Downing was remanded in custody and will appear in Stirling Gardens Magistrates Court on September 25.
