A family have been lambasted after stepping over the barrier of an animal enclosure so their children could ‘grab and touch’ a giant tortoise.
The couple were spotted lifted both their children into the Galapagos tortoise pen at the Perth Zoo on Sunday, holding one child inches away from the reptile, in front of horrified visitors.
One onlooker took to social media complaining of the behaviour and calling out the ‘entitled’ couple.

‘The family climbed over the fence and log barricade twice so each of their kids could get a turn grabbing and touching the tortoise,’ the woman told Yahoo News Australia.
‘They were clearly English speakers with Australian accents who understood us and the signs.’
The mum in the pictures can be seen holding her child near the animal in front of wooden barriers, ropes and signage.
The bystander said her group and others complained to the couple about their move, which the mother apparently ignored.
The man, who was seen in the images filming a child’s interaction with the animal, reportedly told patrons to ‘let the kids f****** experience it’.
The stunned zoo patron claimed the tortoise ‘suffered’ over the intrusion as the mum ‘forced’ her child to touch the animal, with the toddler apparently in tears.

She took her gripe to zoo staff but by the time they arrived, the family had left the area.
Social media lit up condemning the ‘disrespectful’ and ‘entitled’ actions.
A Perth Zoo spokesperson told Yahoo News Australia about the importance of sticking to the rules at animal enclosures.
‘Our animal exhibits and viewing areas are designed to ensure the safety of both our animals and visitors,’ it said.
‘We ask that visitors to the Zoo respect all signage and fencing when admiring our animals to ensure they can feel safe and happy in their own homes.
