Shopper Stacey’s pup ‘Eevie’, can be seen jumping and bounding onto the $15 water mat while ‘smiling’ as she attempts to get some summer heat relief.  

The Dog Water Fountain Mat is available from Kmart stores and features a hose connector which makes the mat easy to assemble.

  • Take your dog for a swim
  • Refill their water bowl with cold water
  • Give your dog ice cubes/ put ice cubes in water bowl 
  • Place your dog inside next to a fan/ air conditions
  • Put your dog’s bed in the shade 
  • Leave a wet towel or blanket available to your dog
  • Place cool/ frozen dog-friendly fruit and vegetables in your dog’s food bowl, such as, pear, blueberries, carrot, watermelon, cucumber, celery and green beans

 

The top places to check for your dog for if it’s overheating are on their neck, behind their hind legs and their armpits. 

Another tip for keeping your pup cool this summer is limiting walks in the middle of the day, always stick to an early morning or late afternoon wander.
