Pet owner, 43, ‘who had sex with a golden retriever and another dog several times’ faces more than 200 charges

  • A 43-year-old man who had sex with a dog has had his case mentioned in court
  • His other charges include stalking and stealing women’s underwear 
  • He’s also accused of possessing and producing child exploitation material 
  • The magistrate adjourned the case to April 17, he remains in custody for now  

A man accused of having sex with a dog, along with a slew of child sex offences, had his case briefly mentioned in court on Wednesday. 

Dean Anthony Sellenthin, 43, from northern New South Wales, is charged with over 200 offences, including possessing and producing child exploitation material, and having sex with a golden retriever multiple times.

The Bangalow man also faced charges for indecently assaulting a person with a disability, stalking, and stealing women’s underwear, Tweed Heads Local Court heard on Wednesday. 

Magistrate Geoff Dunlevy adjourned the matter to April 17 and excused Sellenthin from appearing, at Tweed Heads Local Court on Wednesday

The alleged incidents happened between 2011 and 2017 according to court documents.  

It’s alleged at least two dogs have been victims of his bestiality acts.  

Other allegations include producing child abuse material in areas surrounding Byron Bay.  

On a number of different occasions the 43-year-old is alleged to have stolen up to 48 pairs of women’s and children’s swim wear and underwear from homes in the region.

Sellenthin’s defense lawyer asked for the matter to be adjourned for committal with his appearance excused.   

Magistrate Geoff Dunlevy adjourned the matter to April 17 and excused Sellenthin from appearing.
