Pete Evans is famed for following a very strict paleo diet.

But it seems the celebrity chef’s eating habits have literally gone to the dogs.

Speaking with The Daily Telegraph on Saturday, the 44-year-old My Kitchen Rules judge spruiked his new line of dog food, claiming he’s even sampled some of the premium pet product.

Is he barking mad? Speaking with The Daily Telegraph on Saturday, Pete Evans spruiked his line of pet food and claimed he’s even sampled some of the product for himself

‘I’ve tried it, that’s for sure,’ Pete pronounced in his eye-opening interview with the publication.

‘There is nothing in there that doesn’t really appear on my own dinner plate,’ the culinary connoisseur cooed over the canine cuisine.

Clearly enamoured with his line of tasty treats, the chef continued: ‘We don’t chew on bones as human beings but the freeze-dried liver and freeze-dried heart, I’ve tried them and I’ve shared them with my pets’.

In a billboard for his  Everyday Healthy Pets brand, erected last August, Pete appears with a pooch alongside the words: ‘Tested on humans!’

However, speaking with The Daily Telegraph on Saturday, Pete’s business partner Michael Ryan stressed that the food was not for human consumption.

Each bag of the pet food also carries a similar warning on its packaging.

Last year, Pete took to Instagram to rail against the meals given to cats and dogs in Australia.

He stated: ‘The state of the pet food that dominates the marketplace for pets is horrendous and I would say poisonous for our furry friends.’

He also linked existing pet food to the cause of animals’ poor health: ‘A lot of vets promote this cr*p and wonder why so many dogs and cats have such poor health.’

The My Kitchen Rules judge’s ideas about food and nutrition have repeatedly come under fire in the past.

Pete has made a slew of controversial claims over the years, including that vegan women should eat meat during pregnancy, that osteoporosis sufferers should not eat dairy, and that Wi-Fi causes health problems.

However, it appears many pet owners love Pete’s new line of doggie delicacies, cooing over the product in promotional pictures he shares to Instagram.
