Peter Kay is back to his hilarious best as he entertains the crowd amid his Dance For Life tour

He stepped back from the public eye in 2017, when he cancelled a huge 14-month stand-up tour due to ‘unforeseen family circumstances’.

But Peter Kay proved his humour was still just as sharp as ever as he interreacted with crowds while taking to the stage amid his Dance For Life tour on Friday.

The comedian, 48, dressed in a gold and white tracksuit adorned in records, had his fans in stitches during the rescheduled show as he warmed up ahead of taking to the decks.

He’s back! Peter Kay proved his humour was still just as sharp as ever as he interreacted with crowds while taking to the stage amid his Dance For Life tour on Friday

Holding up a silver LP storage case with a Dance For Life sticker on the front, Peter assured the crowd: ‘I’ve got my LPs, don’t worry I’ve got my LPs’ as they cheered him along.

He then went on to say that he was stalling things slightly as he wanted it to get ‘a bit darker’ as he didn’t want everyone dancing in the daylight.

Moving on, the star welcomed everyone, remarking: ‘Thanks for coming and thanks for dressing up!’ before pointing out someone dressed as Freddie Mercury.

He continued: ‘Welcome the the slightly delayed and rescheduled Dance For Life! Sorry about that, but we’re here now!’

Peter then appeared to interact with someone from the side of the stage, who had seemingly asked him to lower his microphone.

In his usually comedic fashion, Peter feigned ignorance as he moaned: ‘What are you on about?’ as the crowd giggled at the exchange.

He then branded the person a ‘psychopath!’ and said ‘God love you love’ before continuing with the show.

Fans have been waiting years for Peter’s return to the stage, after he stepped away from the spotlight in 2017 due to ‘unforeseen family circumstances’, with his Dance For Life show seeing all the proceeds go to Cancer Research.

Peter kicked off the tour two weeks ago in Manchester, for the first time since his record-breaking The Tour That Doesn’t Tour Tour…Now On Tour, which wrapped in late 2011.

And fans seemed to be pleased with Friday’s performance as many shared their reaction on social media, with some even saying they were ’emotional’.

The event is billed as a ‘dance-a-thon party that will save lives – with Peter also taking to the DJ decks during the show.

Peter was due to go on a massive tour from April 2018 through to summer 2019, but he cancelled it in December 2017 due to unknown circumstances.

The performer said on December 13, 2017: ‘Due to unforeseen family circumstances, I deeply regret that I am having to cancel all of my upcoming work projects.

‘This unfortunately includes my upcoming standup tour, Dance for Life shows and any outstanding live work commitments.

‘My sincerest apologies. This decision has not been taken lightly and I’m sure you’ll understand my family must always come first.’

He had previously been due to make a comeback with the series of Dance For Life shows to raise money for Cancer Research UK in April and May 2020.

But the events had to be postponed in March last year because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
