‘I don’t want to talk about myself, but Sandy, I’ve had problems with this,’ he said, as he began to open up about his time in London and how he felt isolated while there.

Explaining that he would often go to the pub and spend time alone as: ‘I’m quite a shy person.’

‘I’ve got good family and good friends, but when you’re a long, long way from home… You can see why when people are alone, that that can lead to some kind of depression.’

Peter then moved the subject on from himself by making a joke.

The media personality recently found himself – alongside his brother Karl – the subject of scandal.

Peter and brother Karl allegedly had a ‘b**chy’ phone conversation while the former was in an Uber.

The chat was revealed by New Idea in a rumoured ‘$50,000’ deal.

In it, the brother discussed their careers and colleagues at Channel Nine, Peter apparently bemoaned being ‘knocked back’ and having ‘no luck’ when trying to get ahead at the network.

The Uber driver supposedly overheard the Weekend Today host, 36, complain that he hated his job and often aims his frustration and unhappiness on wife Sylvia.

Peter was apparently ‘intoxicated’ during the conversation and was joined by his wife Sylvia Jeffries, however she did not join in on the boys’ discussion.

Older brother Karl, 43, who has been with the Nine Network for 18 years, gave advice to Pete while on loudspeaker.

The driver claimed Today host Karl coached Pete into pitching more ideas and suggested he request $60,000, and to not take no for an answer.

Peter, who has worked for Nine for 14 years, said his working conditions were  ‘sucking the life out of him’.

Comforting Pete, Karl claimed 60 Minutes bosses were ‘out of touch’ and ‘didn’t know anything’.

Peter told The Daily Telegraph that he was ashamed of the humiliation he brought upon himself, his big brother, the Nine Network and on his colleagues.

‘I have spoken directly to the people involved and have offered my sincerest apologies as I have been raised to do: Do something wrong, apologise and try to move on,’ he said.
