PGA star John Daly is defending President Donald Trump against accusations that he cheats at golf.

Daly, who recently golfed with Trump at the president’s club in New Jersey, spoke to TMZ and refuted allegations, including those made by another pro golfer and a sports reporter, that Donald cheats.

‘It’s funny how these people say, “Does he cheat?” Well, when he goes out and plays, if he hits a bad shot, he might hit a Mulligan, but he doesn’t count it when we’re playing the match,’ the former British Open champion said.

While Daly defended Trump, he was quick to point the finger at his predecessor, Bill Clinton.

‘It’s just amazing that people call him a cheat in golf,’ Daly said of Trump. ‘You want to call a cheat in golf? I’ll tell you, Bill Clinton, he took a mulligan on putts, chips, when I played with him. I don’t think Bill Clinton could’ve broken 100.

‘At least the president, Mr. Trump, he can shoot 80. 78 to 84, probably.’

Daly voiced his support for Trump after the two played recently at the president’s course in New Jersey.

‘I’m proud to be an AMERICAN, especially w/this man leading our country!’ Daly wrote. ‘One of the greatest days of my life! Thx you for a great day’

Rick Reilly, a former Sports Illustrated columnist who once played a round with Trump, said the president lied about his score, took unwarranted mulligans, and even credited himself for others’ shots.

‘To say “Donald Trump cheats” is like saying “Michael Phelps swims,”‘ Reilly wrote in his book, ‘Commander in Cheat: How Golf Explains Trump.’

Writing for the Sunday Times magazine in March, Riley claimed caddies had given Trump the nickname ‘Pele’ because he would often kick the ball to improve his lie.

Riley also took issue with Trump’s claim at the time that he was a 2.8 handicap, which is actually less impressive than the 1.8 he currently boasts.

‘If Trump is a 2.8, Queen Elizabeth is a pole vaulter,’ wrote Riley.

Even LPGA Tour golfer Suzann Pettersen, a friend of Trump’s, told Norwegian newspaper Verdens Gang that the President ‘cheats like hell.’
