Philadelphia boy’s little league championship catch

This is not your average little league catch.

A stunning video captures the moment Jack Regenye, 14, flips over a fence at the edge of center field to catch a ball in the Junior League World Series in Taylor, Michigan.

The video shows a batter hitting the ball, sending it directly into the back of center field

Regenye was playing center field for Kennett Square against Chinese Taipei in the Junior League World Series championship game on August 20.

The tournament is for 13- and 14-year-old players.

‘I saw the ball,’ Regenye said on ESPN’s SportsCenter, ‘and I saw Nick [Patterson] to my right, yelling “fence, fence, fence”… like the first time ever. I tracked it, and instincts kicked in, and I caught the ball.’

The video shows a batter sending the ball high out to center field. It looks like it’s going to be a home run.

Regenye tumbles over the fence and triumphantly comes up with the ball in his hand.

The catch was initially counted. Then the umpiring crew reversed the call, awarding the batter a home run.

Ultimately they reverted to the original call and the home run was not counted.

Unfortunately for Regenye and his team, they went on to lose 2-1.

The video was posted on Twitter by Eric Hubbs, a blogger for Barstool Sports. It has 35,000 favorites and 17,000 retweets.
