Philadelphia Eagles player Josh Sills has been acquitted by a jury of raping and kidnapping a former high school classmate in 2019.

Jurors delivered a verdict after nearly three hours of deliberating.

Sills was indicted on both first-degree felony charges in February, around two weeks before his team played in the Super Bowl against Kansas City Chiefs.

Following the verdict, his attorney Michael Connick reportedly said the guard is expected to travel to Philadelphia and rejoin the Eagles within the next couple of days.

Sills was accused of forcing a woman to perform oral sex on him in his truck for ‘approximately 20 minutes’.

The victim, who was only identified by the initials MM, was allegedly ‘forcibly restrained’ by Sills in his truck.

Her cousin, who spent the evening with her before the alleged assault, took the stand for the prosecution Tuesday.

Breanna Woods testified, according to WTRF, that a group of friends, including herself and MM, had been out to a few bars with Sills, who they reportedly knew from high school, meeting up with them.

She alleged that the NFL player offered to drive them home and was squeezing the leg of MM on the journey to Woods’s home, where the victim was also staying.

At the house, Woods got out but MM said she would be in ‘in a minute.’ Woods said she went inside and fell asleep, waking up the following morning and finding MM, ‘upset and shaken.’

Prosecutors had argued that Sills ‘forcibly restrained and raped the woman’ in December 2019. The defense said it was consensual.
