Physiotherapist ‘groped a female patient’s breasts and buttocks while treating her’

A physiotherapist has been accused of touching a woman’s buttocks with his chin after she came to him for whiplash treatment.

Mohamed Abouelrish is also accused of indecently touching his genitals onto the woman’s hands, squeezing her backside and pinching her breasts, over the course of two sessions on February 25 and March 3 in 2016.

In this session Mr Abouelrish asked the woman if she had a boyfriend and called her beautiful.

Mohamed Abouelrish, a physiotherapist, has been accused of pushing his chin between a woman’s buttocks after she came to him for help with whiplash

The accused, who worked at Physiobeats in Stockport, touched the woman’s breasts and buttocks for no apparent medical reason, the court was told.

She returned a week later where it is alleged that he called her ‘beautiful girl’ and offered her chocolate.

The court was told that Mr Abouelrish then touched her knee, breasts and buttocks before asking her to place her arms by her side with her palms upward.

That is when she felt him rubbing his genitals into her hands, it is alleged.

He then allegedly went to on to touch her between the buttocks using his facial hair.

The physiotherapist failed to attend a fitness to practice hearing before the Health and Care Professions Tribunal (HCPTS) but the hearing continues in central London despite his absence.

It is claimed his actions were sexually motivated and amount to misconduct.

Stephen Ferson, council for the HCPTS, said: ‘On February 25 and March 3 Mohamed Abouelrish held two appointments with service user A who was seeking treatment for whiplash she suffered following a car crash earlier that year.’

Parts of the evidence were heard in private.

Press were asked to leave by Panel chair Helen Carter-Shaw so witness testimony could be heard.

The hearing continues.
