Photos have emerged of the man arrested in the brutal ax attack in New York City that left one woman dead and another woman in critical condition.

Jerry Brown, 34, was charged on Sunday with murder, attempted murder, and criminal possession of a weapon, police told the New York Post.

Brown, who has a violent criminal past, is believed to have entered the Brooklyn apartment of his girlfriend, Angela Valle, and attacked her and her friend, Savannah Rivera.

Rivera, 20, the mother of a three-year-old son, was killed and partially decapitated while Valle, 21, was hospitalized with multiple lacerations.

Police responded a call from the Bushwick Houses on Flushing Avenue around 1.30am on Saturday, where they found Valle and Rivera.

Valle’s four-year-old daughter was in the apartment, but was unharmed in the attack.

According to the Post, Brown has been arrested at least 13 times in the past for offenses including robbery, burglary, assault, strangulation and turnstile jumping.

Police tracked him down and arrested him around 3pm on Saturday, but have not yet released a motive.

Rivera’s family and friends told the Post on Saturday that she was nine weeks pregnant with her second child at the time of her death.

‘We lost two lives,’ friend Margaret Cruz told the newspaper. ‘She was happy about it. She was happy to have another child.’

Posts on Facebook show that Brown and Valle were dating as recently as last month.

In one post from six weeks ago, Valle posted a photo of Brown sitting shirtless on a bed wearing a baseball cap and sunglasses.

‘My f*****g man doe!!! Mr. 187 him self,’ she wrote in the caption, the latter being a reference to Section 187 of the California penal code, which defines murder.

Valle added: ‘I love you Daddy’ and Brown wrote in the comments section: ‘I love u my queen.’

Brown told PIX11 News prior to his arrest that he didn’t remember the events of Friday night and early Saturday morning.

‘Somebody woke me up. I have a staple in my head. I woke up on the floor. I was drifting in and out of consciousness. I was on the floor in the hallway of a building,’ he told the station.

‘I woke up and was trying to crawl. My head was busted, my lip was busted and my hand is cut.’

During the phone call with the news station, Brown allegedly asked for the phone number of the 90th Precinct to turn himself in.
