An Indian delivery driver and married father-of-one has been charged after allegedly breaking into a home and sexually assaulting a young girl.

Dinakar Tayi, 44, was arrested at a warehouse in Sydney’s west on Wednesday after a 13-year-old girl was allegedly indecently assaulted by a man not known to her.

He was delivering a parcel to the family home, on Sydney’s north shore, when he allegedly entered the property and preyed on the girl, who is just five years older than his own son.

Tayi was a contractor who worked for several courier companies over the last four years, but has been sacked by one of his employers following the allegations.

Friends of the avid cricket player told Daily Mail Australia they were shocked to hear about his arrest.

‘Dinakar is a family man. I never would have expected it,’ a longtime friend said.

Detectives from the State Crime Command’s Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad took the man to Fairfield police station where he was charged with intentionally sexually touching a child, and aggravated enter dwelling with intent.

Police allege in court that the man was delivering a package to a home on Sydney’s Upper North Shore when he indecently assaulted the girl on Tuesday.

Tayi appeared in Fairfield Local Court on Wednesday, where he was granted bail under strict conditions.

The Indian, originally from Hyderabad, had to surrender his passport and is prohibited from ordering another one. He is also forbidden from visiting any international airports.

Tayi will also be expected to report to St Marys Police Station in Sydney’s west, once daily between 8am and 8pm every day.

He must also not contact the victim or her family, nor can he operate as a courier or delivery driver.

He claims to work for a major international courier service on Facebook, but is not employed by them directly.

He hadn’t actively worked for his listed employee in over a year, a spokeswoman told Daily Mail Australia.

Tayi’s most recent employer, which was not listed on his social media, said he fired the delivery driver two days ago, but would not comment any further.
