The identities of all five victims in the Maryland newsroom shooting were released by law enforcement officials late Thursday.

Rob Hiaasen, Gerald Fischman, Wendi Winters, John McNamara, and Rebecca Smith died this afternoon when 38-year-old Jarrod W. Ramos opened fire inside the Capital Gazette offices in Annapolis.

Hiassen, of Timonium, was employed as an assistant editor and columnist for the newspaper.

Fischman worked as the editorial page editor and Winters as the special publications editor.

Namara was a writer and Smith, a sales assistant.

The identity of Ramos had also been released Thursday evening. Officials used facial recognition technology after the suspect damaged his fingerprints in attempt to halt the investigation process.

The shooting that killed five and injured numerous others was said to be a ‘targeted attack’ against the newspaper.

Authorities have yet to release a specific motive.

Ramos was armed with a shotgun and smoke grenades at the time he launched the attack on journalists while they were in their offices.

It was newly revealed that the gunman previously sued The Capital and threatened staff members after they exposed him for Facebook stalking a woman back in 2011.
