  • She told emergency response crews that a female relative, reported to be Savannah Rivera, 20, was dead inside the eighth-floor apartment 
  • Sources close to police say Rivera was found with her head nearly severed from her body 
  • Valle’s four-year-old daughter was also in the apartment, but was unharmed
  • Neighbors are speculating whether an estranged boyfriend of Valle’s may be responsible for the attack, according to The New York Daily News 

The woman who survived Saturday morning’s horrific ax attack in New York has been identified by friends and neighbors as 21-year-old Angela Valle.  

Medics arrived at Valle’s apartment block in East Williamsburg, Brooklyn, shortly after 1.30 am to find her outside and bleeding heavily with lacerations to her head and body. 

She told them her female relative, a woman identified by The New York Daily News as 20-year-old Savannah Rivera, was dead inside.

Investigators found the relative unconscious and unresponsive in the living room of the eighth floor home, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police sources reportedly told The New York Daily News that her head was ‘almost severed from her body and several of her fingers were severed.’

Meanwhile, Valle’s four-year-old daughter was also found inside the premises. She was unharmed, but was taken to hospital for evaluation and observation.

Neighbors are speculating whether an estranged boyfriend of Valle’s may have been responsible for the attack. 

One claimed that the former couple were ‘always fighting’.  

An ax, thought to be the murder weapon, has reportedly been found in the building’s trash compactor. 

Valle is currently in a critical but stable condition in Elmhurst hospital. 

She initially tried to escape her blood-soaked apartment by calling an Uber. 

However, the driver noticed she was bleeding heavily and called 911, The New York Post reported. Medics arrived shortly afterward.
