Pictures show first 5 months of first panda born in France

These heartwarming images have captured a hairless baby panda growing into an adorable five-month-old cub in a zoo in Paris.  

Yuan Meng was the first giant panda ever born in France, when his mother gave birth in August 2016.

The gorgeous mammal, who lives with his parents Huan Huan and father Yuan Zi, in Beauval Zoo, Paris, is now thriving in his enclosure.

After learning to walk in November, Yuan Meng has begun discovering his surroundings.

Zoo keepers say the youngster is fearless, crossing obstacles without hesitation and climbing on everything in sight, including his mother. 

The Zoo care team completely renovated the indoor Panda habitat to create a safe and interesting environment for Yuan Meng.   

They built a low wooden climbing structure and added rocks for the cub to play on.  

The young panda has grown accustomed to climbing over everything around him - including his mother - leading zookeepers to build a climbing structure for him

The cub was named by France's first lady Brigitte Macron and Chinese dignitaries. Yuan Meng spends most of his time with his mother and still nurses. He has also started nibbling on bamboo, which will soon become his diet of choice
