Piers Morgan calls John Barrowman a ‘d**k’ on GMB

He’s no stranger to livening up his interviews with jokes.

And Piers Morgan shocked viewers when he interrupted his chat with John Barrowman on Wednesday’s edition of Good Morning Britain to ask the Torchwood star whether he was a ‘d**k’.

The 52-year-old star’s comments were all in jest, however, and came as John was discussing his upcoming pantomime role in Dick Whittington.

Cheeky quip: Piers Morgan shocked viewers when he interrupted his chat with John Barrowman on Wednesday’s edition of Good Morning Britain to ask the Torchwood star whether he was a ‘d**k’

In the middle of the chat, Piers shocked viewers by asking, ‘So you are a d**k?’ to which John replied, ‘You said it!’

Piers revealed he had a ‘bet’ with the American star that he wouldn’t utter the word on air – and was determined to prove him wrong.

During the lighthearted interview, former Doctor Who star John also discussed TV bosses’ decision to cast the first female Time Lord.

Some fans of the long-running programme were up in arms when it was revealed that actress Jodie Whitaker would be taking on the role of the Doctor.

‘I think it’s great. There’s a lot of talk online about things but there’s no law that says it has to be a man.

‘I think we should give her a chance, it’s about time there was a woman in the Tardis,’ he enthused.

However, Piers and John were both in agreement that while they were excited by the possibility of a female Doctor Who, they believe James Bond should always be played by a man.

John said: ‘I would tend to agree with you… oh no, I’m going to get tweeted about this, aren’t I?’

Also on the show, some good natured banter left Piers with a sore ear after he mercilessly ribbed co-host Charlotte Hawkins on her Strictly Come Dancing elimination.

Charlotte was axed from the popular BBC show in week four after a series of faltering ballroom performances with professional dance partner Brendan Cole.

And Piers was quick to reference her early departure after she jumbled her words while referencing Leicester City home ground Walkers Stadium during the sports round up.

With a flustered Charlotte attempting to move on, the cheeky presenter played the moment for laughs by picking up a phone and pretending to call his ITV producers.

‘It’s quite obvious since her terrible loss on Strictly, it has affected her ability to perform at a high level,’ he joked into the receiver, adding: ‘Yeah we are going to have to lose her – I know it’s Christmas.’

Playfully pulling at the receiver, Charlotte inadvertently ensured the gag ended on a sour note for Piers by losing her grasp, resulting in the phone cracking him on the ear.

‘You deserved that!’ she said as he rubbed his head before attempting to make another joke call – to security.

Charlotte was partnered with show stalwart Brendan Cole, but the pair were eliminated in the fourth week in a dance-off against EastEnders actor Davood Ghadami.

However, the pair have remained great friends – with Brendan claiming the 2017 series had been one of his best, despite making his first appearance back in 2004.

He said upon their departure: ‘Quite often you stand in this position and you go, “hey it was our time to go” and perhaps today it was our time to go

‘Not often you stand here with such sadness and go ‘I’m going to miss this and I’m going to miss hanging out with this girl.’

Strictly Come Dancing continues on BBC1, Saturday December 2.
