Piers Morgan says he was right not to believe ‘delusional duchess’ Meghan Markle and Prince Harry in their bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey because 17 of their claims have since been proven false, exaggerated or unverifiable.
Morgan, DailyMail.com’s editor-at-large, sat down for his own tell-all with Fox News host Tucker Carlson aired Monday, where he renewed his fierce criticisms of Harry and Meghan and railed against the ‘woke cancel culture mob’ that drove him to quit Good Morning Britain last month.
Morgan set off a social media firestorm the day after the Oprah interview on March 7 when he said he ‘didn’t believe a word’ of what Meghan said – particularly about experiencing racism within the Royal Family and feeling suicidal when she was pregnant with son Archie.
Speaking to Carlson on his Fox Nation show on Monday, Morgan said he’s only become more convinced that Meghan is ‘completely delusional’ in the month since the interview aired.
‘What I was witnessing was the most extraordinarily disingenuous smear, hit job, on the Royal family, on the Queen, on the monarchy, and frankly on Britain, my country,’ he said of the first time he watched the interview.
‘I went on air on Monday morning with full bells on and said quite clearly that I didn’t believe what Meghan Markle was saying. Here we are a month later and frankly, I’ve had plenty of time to think about this – I still don’t believe any of what they were saying.
‘Seventeen different claims by the pair of them have now been proven to be either completely untrue, or massively exaggerated, or unprovable. I don’t understand why I should have to believe people who are not telling the truth.’
He accused Meghan of leading a ‘woke mob’ that branded him a racist for sharing his skepticism and demanded that people and businesses stop allowing cancel culture to infringe on free speech.
‘It was Meghan’s way and Meghan’s truth,’ he said. ‘I was under attack from Ms Markle to confirm to her version of events and I had to believe her and if I didn’t I was a racist who should be condemned.
‘I should be allowed to say: “I don’t believe you.”‘

‘I don’t believe they are racist at all’: Morgan rejects Meghan and Harry’s claims of racism in the Royal family, demands ‘context’ on comment about Archie’s skin color and reminds of Harry’s racial slur in 2006
Early in the interview Morgan zeroed in on Meghan and Harry’s racism claims – accusing them of ‘smearing’ the Royal family and the Queen, and pointing out that the only member of the family who’s been forced to apologize for racism is Harry.
Speaking to Oprah, Meghan alleged that someone in ‘The Firm’ expressed ‘concerns’ about ‘how dark’ Archie’s skin would be before he was born because she is mixed-race and Harry is white.
Morgan asserted that Meghan was ‘accusing the Queen and the Monarchy and the institution as being racist’ – adding: ‘We don’t know the context, we don’t know what was said.’
Morgan said the question about Archie’s skin color could have been ‘innocent’ if it was based on mere curiosity. He acknowledged, however, that if the question were ‘loaded with a sense of derogatory tone or concern, then it becomes racism’.
He further said that Meghan’s suggestion that Archie was barred from becoming a prince because of concerns about his skin color was ‘completely untrue’.
‘It’s not just a sense of her lived experience being untrue, it is factually incorrect. That boy was never going to be a prince until Prince Charles, Harry’s father, becomes king on the death of the Queen,’ Morgan said.
‘And that’s gonna happen whatever the skin color of Archie’s mother, that’s set-in-stone – it’s been the case for 100 years.
‘So for Meghan Markle to try and create a story that says that the decision to not make Archie the title of prince was based on his skin color is a lie.’
Morgan said he did not believe the Royal family were racist, and noted it was ‘ironic’ that Harry is the only one forced to apologize for racist language.
The Prince made a video diary in 2006, while in the British army, in which he described an Asian member of his platoon as ‘our little Paki friend’.
Morgan said: ‘I have met the royals many times and I don’t believe they are racist at all.
‘In fact, the only member of the royal family who has had to publicly apologize for being racist is Prince Harry, who a few years ago had to apologize after using a deeply offensive racist term about a Pakistani soldier, that he was working with.
‘And he used other racial slurs as well in that story which was published by a British tabloid. Which may explain his hatred for the British tabloids.’
The prince made the comments in footage shot while training as an officer at the Sandhurst military academy in 2006. A year before, he was forced to make a public apology for wearing a Nazi insignia at a fancy dress party.
When the 2006 footage emerged, in 2009, St James’s Palace issued a public apology, saying: ‘Prince Harry fully understands how offensive this term can be, and is extremely sorry for any offence his words might cause.
‘However, on this occasion three years ago, Prince Harry used the term without any malice and as a nickname about a highly popular member of his platoon. There is no question that Prince Harry was in any way seeking to insult his friend.’
Morgan concluded: ‘But he’s the only one. Isn’t that ironic? That wasn’t mentioned by Oprah Winfrey – and it should have been.’
He also noted how both he and his friend Sharon Osbourne, who defended Morgan for voicing his opinions, had been forced from their jobs.
Osbourne left daytime chat show The Talk on March 26, after a heated row on March 10 when she defended his right to air his views.
‘If you’re going to accuse people of racism – and I have a real vested interest in this debate, because I have been accused of racism simply for disbelieving Meghan Markle, who we now know was not telling the truth throughout that interview.
‘I feel very angry about that, and very aggrieved about that,’ he said. ‘And I have seen friends of mine, like Sharon Osborne, being removed from their job for defending me, because apparently they were defending a racist.
‘I have seen Don Lemon at CNN, the guy who sits in my old office, who I thought was a friend, actually say on his show that I had committed an act of racism by disbelieving somebody. That’s an act of racism?
‘So you have the Queen, and frankly every member of the royal family, is still smeared with the idea it may have been them who expressed concern over the skin color of Archie. Well, did they? And if so, who was it?
‘As a British taxpayer, who helps pay for the royal family, I would like to know, actually, if there is a real racist inside the palace.’
Morgan called into question Winfrey’s conduct during the interview, asking why she didn’t press for more answers or clarification.
‘My problem with this whole interview is that these incredibly damaging allegations were tossed out there, and none of them were challenged properly,’ he said.
‘None of them were challenged based on actual reality. None of them were asked, well, who is this person?’
Morgan also demanded that Meghan substantiate her claim that she was denied access to mental health care when she was feeling suicidal because she was told it ‘wouldn’t look good for the institution’ by revealing who made that comment.
‘You’re accusing two people in the palace of being unspeakably cruel simply to protect the brand of the Royal family, if that is true let’s have the names of these people and let’s go to them and ask them is this true,’ he said.
‘”Did you tell a suicidal woman, who told you she was suicidal, not to get help?” – because I find that impossible to believe.’

Morgan said he couldn’t be sure whether Meghan was ‘deliberately lying’ or ‘completely untrue’ – but said he does not care.
‘It’s not really about Meghan Markle – she’s a delusional duchess who wants to make millions off the royals while trashing family. It’s really about free speech,’ he said.
‘What happened to me is happening all over Britain and America – I can take it, but there are many people who don’t have our platform who are being wiped out, lives destroyed, careers ended over the most ridiculous things.
‘It’s got to stop. And it will only stop when the mass body of people, who don’t feel this way, who don’t find themselves offended by absolutely everything, when they stand up and go: “Enough. I’m not going to let this happen.”‘
Referencing his experience at Good Morning Britain (GMB), Morgan continued: ‘Ultimately it’s got to be the bosses of companies. Stand firm when the mob comes and bays for blood says: “You’ve got to get rid of this person he’s a racist, he doesn’t believe Meghan Markle.” That doesn’t make me a racist, what are you talking about? Bosses have to stand firm. If they don’t, this will get worse and worse and worse.’
‘The best way to beat a bully sometimes is to smack him back in the nose. And I’m talking metaphorically but what I mean is, when this woke mob comes again, you need people to go: “Nope, not having this.”‘
He said if he was in charge of GMB’s network ITV, he would have defended a host who said the things he did about Meghan and Harry.
‘If I’d been running [ITV], I would’ve said: “Piers is here to express his opinions. Why do you think we now have a number one rated show on television? Because everyone’s been tuning in for his opinion about the big interview.”
‘But that wasn’t allowed to happen. The woke mob is a dangerous mob. And companies around the world fear it. Individuals fear it. And the only way you can defy a mob is to stand up and say: “No. I’m sorry, you’re not going to get your way, put your pitchforks back, because you’re not going to get your latest scalp.”‘
Carlson agreed, saying that the Murdoch family that controls Fox News is ‘the only reason I have my job’.
Morgan replied: ‘I worked with Rupert Murdoch myself and he remains to this day somebody who, when the mob came for him, he stood firm. He wouldn’t toss you on the bonfire. He might do down the line if you were failing at your job, but not because people were offended by you, or decided that you have no right to have an opinion.’
Morgan then took aim at CNN host Don Lemon, who called his comments about Meghan ‘an act of racism’.
‘It was really offensive to me, as someone who worked at CNN and gave everything I had for nearly four years,’ Morgan said of Lemon. ‘That really disappointed me. I would like Don Lemon to think again about what he said about me on air.’
Morgan branded Lemon as being part of the ‘illiberal mob’ that increasingly controls public discourse.
‘If we lose the right to have an opinion, the right to respect other opinions, then ultimately democracy dies. It’s the bedrock of democracy,’ he said.
‘You then become something different, you become a totalitarian state run by an illiberal mob, who are the new fascists. Is that what anybody wants? Do liberals want that? I don’t want that, I’m a liberal.’
Morgan said he couldn’t be sure whether Meghan was ‘deliberately lying’ or ‘completely untrue’ – but said he does not care. ‘It’s not really about Meghan Markle -she’s a delusional duchess who wants to make millions off the royals while trashing family – It’s really about free speech,’ he said

Carlson played numerous clips from Meghan and Harry’s interview over the course of his hourlong chat with Morgan, including one where Oprah asked the duchess: ‘Were you silent or were you silenced?’ Meghan said the latter.
‘I’m sure it hasn’t escaped your notice that moments after she complained about being silenced, she called your boss to silence you,’ Carlson told Morgan with a laugh.
Morgan shook his head in dismay before saying: ‘I mean, you couldn’t make this stuff up, frankly.
‘The week before Harry had been on an open-top bus with his friend James Corden. This is the prince of privacy, who was talking about his private life, his family, on an open-top Hollywood star bus.
‘The lack of self-awareness of these two is frankly breathtaking. But this idea that Meghan Markle was silenced – Meghan Markle guest edited British Vogue in the middle of her silence. Meghan Markle made 73 public appearances – many of which she spoke at – during her extended period of being silenced.
‘Meghan Markle claimed that she had her passport taken away so she couldn’t fly, yet miraculously she took 14 flights, some of them on Elton John’s private jet, while she was simultaneously with Harry lecturing us about our carbon footprint.
‘There are so many ridiculous whoppers in this interview that frankly in the end, saying I believe her would be like saying I believe Pinocchio. Why would I?’

Morgan went on to predict that the couple will reveal more secrets in the coming months – despite claiming to crave privacy and a quiet life in Southern California.
He said that the only way the couple will be able to stay in the news going forward is to essentially cash in on their royal titles – whether it be through deals with Netflix or podcasts with Spotify.
‘Prince Harry is useful to Meghan because he has a royal title and she has been ruthlessly exploiting that title to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars,’ he said.
‘Good luck to them if they can get away with it but I think Americans should be on to this now. How much money would they be making if they weren’t the Duke and Duchess of Sussex for their anodyne views on a podcast to Spotify? Zero! Right?
‘Would they be getting a two hour interview with Oprah if they weren’t Royal? Of course they wouldn’t. Would they be on an open top bus going through Hollywood with James Corden if they weren’t Royal? No! So their entire existence is now being financed by their Royal connection, the same Royal connection which they spent nearly two hours lambasting and saying how much they hated.’
Morgan accused the couple of displaying both inconsistent, hypocritical and ultimately shameful behavior, saying: ‘I wonder what the game plan is for Harry and Megan? Do they carry on plummeting to the bottom in terms of spewing ever more lurid details?
‘We know that within several days of the Oprah interview, Prince Charles and Prince William both called Prince Harry to discuss the interview. And the reason we know that incredibly private information, is because the first thing they did was tell Gayle King, Oprah’s best friend who hosts the CBS morning show, who then broadcast this to the American people.’
Morgan said that the revealing of details of private family phone conversations, which had ultimately not been constructive, was an act that could only be categorized as ‘extremely disrespectful’.
‘To do it to your own family, I don’t know how you can trust them again?’ Morgan said. ‘It’s complete hypocrisy all to keep the pot boiling and making themselves talked about which ultimately is their only currency because, you know, they’re not making all this money through talent.’
Morgan continued to ponder what the plan might be for the couple going forward and how they might be able to make millions despite the pair claiming to long for a life out of the limelight.
‘Meghan was an ok actress on a show that not many people watched. I happened to like it. What has Prince Harry done? He went to war and my brother-in-law taught him at Sandhurst Military Academy and said he was a fine young soldier and very courageous man. What’s happened to that guy? He’s turned into this whiney brat in his mid-30s who’s complaining his dad isn’t still financing everything that he does. Complaining he was cut off by daddy and his millions. Actually that wasn’t true either. It turns out Prince Charles had carried on financing him,’ Morgan explained.
‘Remember Harry inherited millions when his mother died. I knew Princess Diana well and I think she’d be horrified by the split between Harry and his brother, by the schism now between Harry and Royal Family generally and by the appalling smearing of the Queen which is already causing damage in some of the commonwealth countries who are buying into this outrageous lie that the Queen is somehow presiding over this racist institution.
‘I’m afraid I predict we’ll going to be hearing a lot more from them and we’ll be hearing a more royal secrets from them because that’s their currency and without that they’re just another couple of celebrities now on the huckster trail.’

The 56-year-old journalist paid £2,600 for the cigar, left behind by Churchill on his voyage aboard HMS Duke of York in 1941 as he met with US President Franklin D Roosevelt, at a Shropshire auction back in May 2018.
At the time, MailOnline columnist Morgan took to Twitter to tell his followers he had bought the wartime relic because he was feeling ‘so patriotic’.
Sitting down with Fox Nation host Tucker Carlson on Monday, Morgan said he looks at the half-smoked cigar when he starts ‘thinking about rolling over’.
He sensationally left ITV breakfast show Good Morning Britain last month after causing a social media storm when he said he ‘didn’t believe a word’ of what Meghan Markle had said during her bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Morgan has since launched an impassioned defense of free speech and has called the very ‘wokeism’ that cost him his livelihood a new form of ‘fascism’ that threatens the foundations of western democracy.
Morgan said: ‘Obviously no one can invoke his [Churchill’s] spirit, but you can invoke part of his spirit. Just never give up and never give in on the point of principle.
‘Stand up for what you believe in. As Churchill himself said, if you’ve got enemies good, because it means you stood up for something you believe in sometime in our life. Isn’t that a good maxim for all of us to have in life?’

Early in the interview Morgan slammed his former GMB colleague Alex Beresford for launching a ‘premeditated attack’ during their on-air row about the Oprah interview that cost him his job on the ITV show.
The day after the interview Morgan’s comments led to an explosive weatherman Beresford, who accused Morgan of ‘trashing’ the Suits actress before he stormed off set.
Speaking to Carlson on Monday, Morgan said of Beresford: ‘He is the stand-in weather guy, he’s not a journalist, he’s someone I’ve helped in his career like he has asked me to.
‘He sent me a private message in which he expressed some concern about what he felt I wasn’t really understanding about where Meghan Markle was coming from as a bi-racial woman. He is himself a bi-racial man so he wanted to explain so I said come on air, let’s have the conversation.
‘But the moment he came on air, he came with a pretty premeditated attack on me on a pretty personal level and frankly I just wasn’t going to have it.
‘I walked off… I was quite angry in the moment, he claimed that I have a personal vendetta against Meghan Markle, which I don’t.’
During the GMB clash, Beresford responded to Morgan’s claims that he used to talk to Meghan and she ‘dropped him’ once she started dating Prince Harry.
He said: ‘I understand that you don’t like Meghan Markle, you’ve made it so clear a number of times on this program, and I understand you’ve got a personal relationship with Meghan Markle and she cut you off.’
Beresford told Morgan: ‘She’s entitled to cut you off if she wants to’ – prompting Morgan to then storm off the GMB set.
Morgan was also asked by Tucker how he felt the day after he stormed off set, when his co-host Susanna Reid apologized for his behavior.
‘It seems like you have affection for her,’ Carlson said.
Morgan replied: ‘I was disappointed, but she might have done it in the grip of fear, that if she spoke too highly in favour of me, the same thing might happen to her. There would be a huge Twitter pile-on. By an orchestrated mob.’
The former editor of the Daily Mirror also said he doubted that Meghan had been subjected to racist coverage by the British Press.
Morgan told Carlson: ‘Contrary to what many Americans have been led to believe, the press coverage of these two right up to the wedding was completely over-the-top euphoric.
Everyone in Britain was thrilled that finally we were having a non-white bride in the royal family, it hadn’t happened.
‘We were all very happy about this. I wrote about how wonderful it was on the wedding day.
This narrative from the start that she was was bombarded with horrible, hateful, racist press coverage is another disingenuous load of nonsense fueled by the Oprah Winfrey show where they flashed up a series of headlines, many of which had been deliberately cut to create a misconstrued impression, and many were actually American tabloids not British.
‘But no, this narrative had to be believed, that Meghan Markle was targeted for her skin color by the beastly British tabloids.
‘I never saw that, I don’t believe that, I’m a former British tabloid editor myself and I would know if there was racist coverage in the British papers and there wasn’t.
‘There may have been on social media because that’s a cesspit, we know that, but I didn’t see it in the mainstream British Press.’

Morgan defends fired Teen Vogue editor, 27, who lost her job before she’d even started over racist tweets she apologized for writing when she was a kid
During his rant against the ‘woke mob’ Morgan came to the defense of Alexi McCammond, the Teen Vogue editor in chief who was fired before even starting the job last month after racist tweets she posted when she was 17 in 2011 resurfaced online.
‘The editor of Teen Vogue was fired before she could even start. She apologized for years about stuff she tweeted as a 17-year-old kid, but that wasn’t enough. So, apologies don’t ever get you anywhere,’ Morgan railed.
Alexi McCammond McCammond, 27, wrote several anti-Asian tweets in 2011 and was forced to resign from her job as editor of Teen Vogue earlier last month
‘This woke mob want to cancel people who do not follow their narratives and it’s got increasingly dangerous. I look at that poor young journalist who got fired before she even started and I ask myself, so what about the other members of that editorial team?
‘Should we go back to their tweets when they were 16, 17 and see what’s lurking there? We already know about one of them, that didn’t live up to the holy level that they were setting for this woman. But this young woman’s career has been completely trashed and burned because by the woke bonfire because she was not allowed to be contrite,’ Morgan said.
‘She wasn’t allowed to express a sincere apology for stuff she spouted when she was a kid. It’s ridiculous.’
McCammond’s resurfaced tweets include one in which she wrote: ‘Googling how to not wake up with swollen Asian eyes’.
Another since-deleted tweet read: ‘Give me a 2/10 on my chem problem, cross out all of my work and don’t explain what I did wrong… thanks a lot stupid Asian T.A. you’re great.’
She also used the term ‘homo’ in a posting.
They were written in 2011 and resurfaced after she was named as the new editor on March 5. On March 9, the tweets had gone viral and she was apologizing for them.
Conde Nast – which has a history of racism allegations – stood by her and allowed her to keep the position. Staffers were irate that she was allowed to keep her job and said it sent the wrong message during a time of increased attacks on American Asians but she stayed on.

At another point in the interview Morgan praised Osbourne for defending his right to an opinion even at the cost of her job, accusing CBS of ‘hypocrisy’ for forcing her out as co-host of The Talk.
Morgan contended that Osbourne’s ouster was ‘even more disconcerting’ than his own from GMB.
‘I thought it took enormous courage by Sharon in the middle of my firestorm… Sharon went on Twitter immediately, within one hour of the news breaking that I’d gone and defended me and my right to have an opinion,’ he said.
‘She didn’t agree with everything I’ve said. She was already on the record from the day before as saying she disagreed with me about a lot of things,’ Morgan said. ‘But, when it really mattered, when the chips were down for me, she was there, she was a loyal friend. And my God has she paid for that loyalty.’
After Osbourne spoke out on Twitter to defend Morgan, a heated on-air exchange followed in which her co-hosts accused Morgan of ‘unconscious racism’ and slammed her for supporting him.
‘She was taken down very deliberately and it was all because she dared to tweet that I was entitled to my opinion,’ Morgan said. ‘And then because she said that on Twitter, she was attacked on her own show by her co-host who said that [her defense of me] effectively was her supporting someone who said racist things.’
‘When it really mattered, when the chips were down for me, she was there, she was a loyal friend. And my God has she paid for that loyalty,’ Morgan said of Osbourne (with him above)
‘When Sharon got annoyed and said, well, what did he say that was racist? They couldn’t say anything because I never had. And yet now, Sharon’s gone, too. So I — I look at this — this cancel culture, it’s a real thing,’ he continued.
‘This woke mob want to cancel people who do not follow their narratives and it’s got increasingly dangerous,’ Morgan said.
Morgan also slammed CBS for ‘hypocrisy’ in forcing Osbourne out, pointing to a parallel incident in the past involving Sheryl Underwood, one of The Talk co-hosts who challenged Osbourne on-air over her support of Morgan.
‘There’s a real hypocrisy at “The Talk” as well involving Sheryl Underwood,’ he said.
Morgan recounted an incident from 2017 in which comedian George Lopez told a joke that there ‘two rules’ in the Latino community, one being never marry a black woman, and then berated a black woman in the audience who stood up an flipped him off.
‘Now, you would think that Sheryl Underwood — who is so outraged by people saying racist things that she evens imagines them saying it when they haven’t — that when she was confronted with clear evidence on video of her good friend George Lopez saying racist things and abusing a young black woman who then had to leave a venue, that Sheryl would be outraged, but she wasn’t. She defended George Lopez on The Talk four days later,’ said Morgan.
‘So, there’s a real sickening hypocrisy. I’m staggered Sheryl Underwood’s still on that show,’ said Morgan. ‘But there lies the hypocrisy in the heart of this debate.’
‘I know Sheryl Underwood. I’ve been on that show many times. She knows I’m not a racist. She knows that. So, she deliberately did what she did to create a firestorm with Sharon who defended me passionately,’ he continued.
‘And the one who has to leave is not the person falsely accusing Sharon’s friend of being a racist with no evidence. It’s Sharon for defending me against the fake charge,’ said Morgan.
‘That to me is outrageous. And Americans should be outraged. This is show called “The Talk” and because Sharon talked the truth, not anyone else’s truth or even her truth, just the truth, I hadn’t said racist things, because she said that she had to go. And I found that just so disgraceful,’ he added.
Confirming the news of his interview with Carlson on his Twitter account on Saturday, Piers wrote: ‘Time for America to hear MY truth….’
In another update shared on Friday evening, Piers poked fun at Meghan, 39, as he referenced the moment when Oprah, 67, asked whether she was ‘silent or silenced?’ to which the wife of Prince Harry, 36, accused the Royal establishment of ‘silencing’ her.
Casting doubt over the authenticity of her accusations once more, Piers used Oprah’s question to make light of his GMB exit.

He jested: ‘UPDATE: On Monday, I will give my first interview since leaving Good Morning Britain to @TuckerCarlson on his new @foxnation show, with highlights that evening on his @FoxNews show.
‘Was I silent, or was I silenced? (crying laughing emoji).’
Carlson, 51, also confirmed the news to social media as he shared an exclusive clip from the interview and said: ‘So, Piers Morgan was banished from television for asking a simple question, how is it that the most privileged people in our society get away with posing as the most oppressed?
‘For asking that they crushed him – they took his job away. On Monday we will speak to Piers Morgan for his first wide-ranging on-camera interview since he was cancelled.’
Morgan resigned from GMB on March 9 – a day after he stormed off set during an on-air row with weatherman Beresford, who criticized him for ‘continuing to trash’ the Duchess of Sussex.
There were more than 41,000 complaints received by Ofcom, the UK’s communications regulator, including one from Meghan herself following the clash.
The duchess was said to have raised concerns with ITV about the effect Morgan’s comments may have on the issue of mental health generally and those attempting to deal with their own problems.
But Morgan later repeated his condemnation of her interview the following day when he told reporters outside his West London home: ‘If I have to fall on my sword for expressing an honestly held opinion about Meghan Markle and that diatribe of bilge that she came out with in that interview, so be it.’
Soon after he announced his resignation and tweeted his thanks to the GMB team, praising them for their ‘hard work and dedication’ that led to them beating their main breakfast TV rival.
In the wake of his departure at least three petitions calling for Morgan to be reinstated on GMB garnered more than 240,000 signatures.
Morgan ruled out a return to the show but called the petitions a ‘pleasant surprise’ in an Instagram statement on March 13.
‘I won’t be going back, but thanks to everyone who has signed these petitions. Normally, people start petitions to have me fired or deported, so this is a pleasant surprise,’ he wrote.
‘Those of you that know me well enough know that, despite my many faults, I’m always willing to stand my ground for the things that I think matter most.
‘My fervent opposition to the Iraq War led to my demise from the Daily Mirror. My outspoken views on the insanity of American gun laws led to the end of my time at CNN.
‘And now I’ve lost my job at Good Morning Britain because I chose not to apologise for disbelieving Meghan Markle’s claims in her interview with Oprah Winfrey.’
He added: ‘I thus became the latest ”victim” of the cancel culture that is permeating our country, every minute, of every hour, of everyday. Though of course, I consider myself to be neither a victim, nor actually cancelled.
‘However, I do believe the defence of free speech and the right to express honestly held opinions, is the most important issue of my career, and the most important issue in British society.’
Sources at ITV have said that Morgan ‘will continue to make programmes for the channel’, according to iNews.
This is likely to include his popular celebrity interview program, Life Stories, which has been on air since 2009.
Since Piers’ exit from the show he has received messages from several stars, naming Jeremy Clarkson and Bear Grylls, who have said he had a ‘right’ to say his mind.
Sharon Osbourne also voiced her support for Piers during an appearance on The Talk, though she has since parted ways with the CBS show.
