Christmas is still weeks away, but millions of people are already dusting off their favourite holiday recipes and trying to remember where they stashed the ornaments.

But what if you want to try something new this season?

Pinterest is here to help, revealing its 2017 trend report of the most popular holiday ideas in food, fashion and home decor. 

This year it’s all about glitter, from sparkling ice cubes and Hanukkah marshmallow dreidels, to balloons dipped in confetti and gold eyeliner.

Pineapple Christmas Trees were one of the festive favourites in Pinterest’s new Holiday 2017 trend report, exploring the most popular recipes, decorations, and fashion ideas

When it comes to food, Pinterest has found that a number of healthier recipes have been popular among the cooking crowd.

Spiralized sweet potato latkes make for a simple nutritious swap that look great on the plate, while no bake peppermint fudge energy bites are a festive spin on those trendy protein balls.

The recipe only requires almonds, medjool dates, dark chocolate chips and peppermint. After a little mixing, and some time in the fridge, they’re ready to go.

Pinterest also revealed that the top Christmas treat on the site is the Andes Mint Cookie.

While there’s no Andes chocolate in Australia, all you need is some Lindt with mint to replicate the simple recipe posted by American food blog Chocolate With Grace. 

The instructions involve baking chocolate chip cookies and then, when they’re fresh out the oven, spreading a mint chocolate as it melts directly on top.
