While this modest looking Pittsburgh home might seem unremarkable, behind closed doors it is hiding a 13th century castle, a 25th century starship, and even an indoor beach complete with sand.

The three-bedroom 1969 property sits around 20 miles east of down Pittsburgh in Holiday Park, and looks to be a normal home – from the outside at least, with its red brick wall exterior and yellow shutters.

But a Zillow property listing reveals the home has a far more eccentric interior, complete with tropical and hippie-themed bedrooms, secret passageways, and even a ‘talking’ alien.

The one-of-a kind brick ranch has been been converted into a two-storey property and is up for grabs for just $159,000.

According to the listing, the seemingly inconspicuous front door leads to a 13th century ‘castle’ with a sunken floor.

Much has been packed into the 1,075sq-ft home, with classically Renaissance artwork hung on the walls and white, netted curtains covering the high-rise windows.

Lavish fur throws and vintage cushions are situated next to the classic spiral staircase, while the sunken living room adds a gothic effect to the high oak beamed ceiling.

Glass cabinets packed full of ornaments sit opposite the brick fireplace while an animal skin rugs adds a historical touch to the place.

Those looking for privacy can climb the inner ladder that will take them to an elevated library overlooking the living room.

Moving on from the living room, the new owner will time travel away to the 25th century starship. On their journey they will be greeted by a ‘talking’ space alien and a floor to ceiling outerspace wall mural.

Deliberately-loose wires and cables trail down from the ceiling to add to the ‘starship’ effect, complete with lava lamps and police tape plastered across the walls.

A secret pocket door leads the way to the functional ‘galley’ kitchen  and a hatch door hides a laundry, workshop and large storage area.

The upstairs of the home is reached by the spiral staircase which has a den, walkway and three bedrooms.

The tropical-island themed bedroom has been wrapped entirely in beach wallpaper, and sand smothers the floor – complete with sea stones and beach-based relics.

Netting drapes over the side of the bed and a hanging lifeguard buoy transports the room to tropical paradise.

A 1970’s-inspired hippy crash pad even has a queen-sized water bed and is fitted with tie-dye purple drapes and a vintage stereo player.

The tropical theme continues in the home’s one bathroom, kitted out with trailing vines and plants amid its painted green walls.
