Pizza Hut Australia will start selling beers with pizza, pasta and wings orders

Vegging out at home with pizza, some drinks, and good company is about to get a whole lot easier, with Pizza Hut offering a beer delivery service.

The company on Monday revealed it would add beer to its menu after research found customers often paired their pizza with an alcoholic drink.

Customers will be able to have pizza and a six pack delivered right to their door, making Friday night footy, low-key date nights, and take away dinners easier.

Queenslanders and Victorians will be the first to sample the latest venture, but Pizza Hut has already confirmed plans to roll out the beer delivery service nationally.

A picture of an old school menu resurfaced recently showing the original options at a Pizza Hut diner – including a bottle of red wine for $2 and a draught beer for 25c.

The reintroduction of alcohol on the menu is sure to elicit nostalgia from customers who remember the old school all-you-can-eat buffet-style diners.

Pizza Hut’s first Australian dine-in restaurant, on Punchbowl Road in Belfield in Sydney, was demolished in 2018 after almost 50 years in operation, taking with it fond memories of childhood dinners and birthday parties.

The brand hopes the new-look beer menu will again be a hit among Australians and reflect a new era.

Queenslanders will also get the option to order XXXX, while Victorians will have Furphy on the menu.

Delivery drivers will all be trained in the responsible service of alcohol to ensure customers are over the age of 18.

They will request proof of age via a drivers license or valid proof of age card before handing over the alcohol, and there will also be a proof of age verification check on the website prior to placing an order.

‘The beer selection is a nod to keeping things simple – hot pizza and ice cold beer, for the everyday Australian,’ Pizza Hut chief marketing officer Chet Patel said.

‘It also mirrors the popular beers Aussies like to stock in their fridge, with the research showing 78 percent of Aussies have VB, Corona, Furphys, XXXX and Great Nothern in their fridges. This rose to 85 percent for Queenslanders.’
