Plus-size woman recreates Meghan and Prince Harry pictures

A plus-size fashion blogger has recreated prominent Meghan and Harry photos to promote ways people can ‘supersize’ the look.

Katie Sturino, 37, is a fashion publicist turned beauty entrepreneur and blogger who started her blog The 12ish Style in 2015 after she realized there was a gap in the market for fashion inspiration for curvier women online.

The New Yorker, who used to be married to meme king The Fat Jew, is no stranger to social media and has recently used her platform to promote ways plus-size women could recreate popular fashion looks.

For her first recreation picture, Katie teamed up with plus-size model Ryan Dziadul to copy what the Duke and Ducchess of Sussex wore when attending the ‘Your Commonwealth’ Youth Challenge in London at the beginning of July.

Meghan wore a stunning yellow dress from Brandon Maxwell while her husband wore his standard fitted blue suit.

To copy the look, Katie found a bright yellow dress from Eloquii, which creates close specifically for women a size 14 or larger. She also paired the look with nude flats.

The second picture Katie recreated from the royals was their attire when they attended a garden party at the British Ambassador’s house in Dublin, Ireland, in July.

The 37-year-old royal wore a sleeveless little black dress by Emilia Wickstead that she paired with a black heel.

Again, Katie found a near-identical dress from Eloquii and also wore matching black flats for the photo recreation.

Since launching her blog and personal Instagram account, Katie has built a loyal following (she currently has more than 210,000 followers).

And she’s been known to do outfit recreation posts to show the fashion industry that plus-size women can wear the same things as models or celebrities.

Besides copying Meghan’s looks, Katie has also recreated outfits from Selena Gomez and Priyanka Chopra.

Despite receiving relatively positive feedback about her body positive posts, Katie revealed recently how she has been the subject of name-calling online.

In one Instagram post in May, Katie shared a picture of herself posing on the beach in a leopard print bikini, with various offensive names and phrases Photoshopped into the background.

These words included ‘whale,’ ‘fat,’ and ‘cover up,’ along with the phrases ‘nobody wants to see that’ and ‘lose some weight’.

‘I always get a “troll” or two when I post a swimsuit photo, but it never bothers me because my journey to self acceptance meant I had to get over the opinion of my biggest troll… ME,’ Katie wrote in the accompanying caption.

‘When I was a lot slimmer than I am now, I used to criticize myself in the mirror, feel shame for being “the fattest girl in the room” and blame my problems on those final ten pounds I couldn’t lose.’

However, when Katie finally learned to accept her body and herself, she also started to feel good about her body at any size, and harsh words and criticisms became ‘irrelevant’.

‘How I feel is everything and it’s opened me up to focus on the good things in life vs obsession on faults I’ve been taught are there.

‘That doesn’t mean I don’t look in the mirror and say YUCK once in a while, but I just try not to let it be my main narrative,’ she added.
