Plus-size women flaunt bodies in bikinis for new swimwear campaign

Nine plus-size women strutted their curvy bodies in bikinis for a new unretouched swimwear campaign.

Led by style blogger and body positive activist GabiFresh, the Power Play campaign debuts her new collection with Swimsuits For All which all of the curvy ladies model as they confidently stroll down the beach.

Each of the nine women represent the new sizes available within the collection – 10 to 26 – and were hand-selected by Gabi, 31, during an open casting call.

Gabi Gregg held the first ever casting call for the brand which drew over 500 ladies from around the world and only nine were selected.

Representing the different sizes ranging from 10 to 26 all of the women are having the best time parading around Santa Monica Pier in the video while wearing nothing but bikinis.

Gabi has been creating collections for the swimsuit retailer since 2014 and she gushed about this new campaign. 

‘I am constantly motivated and inspired by my followers. Their support means the world to me and to have so many people come out for this casting call was truly a mind-blowing experience,’ says GabiFresh. 

‘This collection is all about bringing to life the fun, flirty, playful spirit of summer. These nine women had no problem showing that side of themselves! 

‘My hope is that this campaign, featuring such a beautifully diverse group, will encourage others to feel confident and have fun in a swimsuit, regardless of their race, size or shape.’

Nekane Cuellar from Spain was a victim of bullying and discrimination due to her size but managed to turn her hurtful experience into something positive. 

She has since become an advocate for diversity and says, ‘Happiness has no size.’ 

Lauren Timm from California said that her self-confidence only came about in the last two years due to body-positive retailers and plus-size bloggers like Gabi. 

‘Words matter and the images we see around us make a difference,’ Lauren shared. 

Mariah Ford from Washington, D.C. graduated college in 2016 and drove non-stop straight to LA to pursue her dreams.  

Chelsea Rose from California said that she believes, ‘that every woman is a goddess.’

Chelsea has a Master’s degree in Social Action Performance which she uses to encourage body positivity and also works Jewish non-profit organization specializing in LGBTQ+ inclusion and teen leadership.

Sienna Boyd is also from California and has always dreamed of becoming the next Tyra Banks.

The single parent explained the only thing stopping her from becoming the next Tyra was, ‘self-doubt.’

She hopes to: ‘Inspire other women and young girls to love themselves unapologetically and to passionately pursue their dreams.’

Jocelyn Way from Pennsylvania is the current Ms. Philadelphia Full-Figured Queen (2017) as well as a mentor to young girls struggling with self-esteem.

The mother-of-two boys also aspires to be a plus-size model one day.

Sohna Bruce-Oliver from California, ‘never felt beautiful’ but being a part of the campaign has taught her that, ‘All women are just that, perfect exactly as they are.’ 

Danielle Candray from California was diagnosed with Alopecia Areata, a hair-loss condition, at the age of two.

She has always struggled with her physical appearance but she finally learned to accept herself, ‘when she realized her disorder doesn’t have to define her.’

Dubhe Ferrer from California never let her size hold her back from doing what she wanted to do. 

The mother-of-one boy has choreographed dances with her sister for major artists such as Nelly and Keisha Cole.

The entire 10-piece collection is made of bright colors and bold tropical prints, retailing up to $150 and available to purchase online.

This is certainly not Gabi’s first foray into plus-size retailers and not only has she been working for the swimsuit brand for over four years, she also has her own plus-size clothing line – Premme.

Gabi is also known for recreating Beyonce’s famous Flawless music video and renamed it to #everyBODYisflawless including other plus-size women.
