‘We’re hoping he’ll be able to give us a hand – either from the start, from the bench or if not, then by giving us moral support in the dressing room – but we are optimistic that he’ll be able to help us on the pitch.’
Spurs defender Jan Vertonghen is hopeful of winning his battle to be fit for the Champions League final.
Vertonghen, Kane and Davinson Sanchez all joined in Wednesday’s training session as they continued their rehabilitation from injury.
Vertonghen sustained an ankle injury in the euphoric semi-final win over Ajax on May 8 and was viewed as a doubt for the final against Liverpool on June 1, but the Belgian is said to be 60/40 in favour of proving his fitness for the clash in Madrid next month with growing optimism the central defender will be available.
