Poldark star Eleanor Tomlinson looks astonishing in ivory sheer dress at glitzy event in Cornwall

She plays the fiery flame-haired beauty Demelza in Poldark.

And Eleanor Tomlinson was every inch the leading lady when she led the glamour at the Poldark photocall at Regal Cinema Redruth, in Cape Cornwall on Tuesday.

The redhead actress, 26, was a vision in her summery white dress which had a figure-hugging bodice to accentuate her slender waist and a billowing sheer skirt.

Eleanor was the picture of elegance in the demure high-neck number which also had delicate pleats sewn into the skirt of the garment.

The Poldark star added a splash of colour to her ensemble with her olive green clutch bag, which stood out against her all-white ensemble.

Sweeping her enviable red mane into a ponytail, the starlet displayed her youthful beauty enhanced with soft make-up.

Eleanor looked well and truly at ease as she returned to Poldark’s native Cornwall, where the four series have been filmed.

Eleanor didn’t let her romance woes dampen her spirits following her split from Poldark co-star Harry Richardson, who plays Demelza’s brother Drake Carne.

Although Poldark’s heartthrob Aidan Turner was no where to be seen, co-star Christian Brassington was happy to step in and put on a cosy display with Eleanor.

It is no surprise Eleanor was left feeling emotional after watching the first episode of season four following on from both Ross and Demelza betraying each other, leaving their marriage on the rocks.

Heartbroken fans watched as Demelza stole a smooch from Hugh Armitage (Josh Whitehouse) before learning her husband Poldark had kissed his childhood sweetheart Elizabeth (Heida Reed).

Eleanor told Cornwall Live of season four: ‘Probably like myself Demelza is a strong independent woman and obviously periodically if you are going with period correctness, everything belonged to the man so she was also the property of the man.

‘I had a few questions for Debbie about that actually while we were filming just because it’s not something I understood but now what is lovely about Demelza is that she’s incredibly modern.

‘She does change the way that things happen and the way that she runs her life and the way that people respect and talk to her as much as she can within her time.’

Eleanor’s triumph of her ‘strong independent’ character comes after she confessed she would be ‘upset’ if Aidan was paid more than her now because they have ‘equal leading roles’ in the show.

Production firm Mammoth Screen, the team which makes the show, confirmed Aidan is paid more than Eleanor.

A spokesman for Mammoth said in a statement: ‘Whilst we can’t and won’t disclose the details, we do pay Aidan Turner more for playing Ross Poldark as throughout all the series Ross has significantly more screen time than any other character.’

Salary disparity has been widely discussed in the industry recently, after Claire Foy publicly addressed her pay difference with co-star Matt Smith for The Crown.

Giving her own view, Eleanor admitted she would be hurt if she found out Aidan was paid more, as she feels they have an equal presence onscreen.

When asked if she and the Irish actor were paid the same, she simply told Red magazine: ‘My guess is no.

‘And while at the beginning that might have been OK – he was a bigger star than me – now I don’t think so. We’re equal leads of the show, so I’d be pretty upset if the gap hadn’t closed.’

Despite their potential disagreement on salary, Eleanor added that she and Aidan were really good friends, and often tease each other about their roles.

She went on: ‘We’re great mates, although we do row. We row about everything – usually our characters. We’re both ridiculously protective of them and squabble like an old married couple.’
