Police arrest a woman, 40, on suspicion of neglect after a three-year-old girl was found wandering the streets of Newquay alone at 3.30am

  • Later police confirmed a woman, 40, was arrested on suspicion of child neglect

A three-year-old girl was found wandering the streets alone early this morning leading to the arrest of a 40-year-old woman for suspected child neglect.

The young girl was spotted at around 3.30am in Newquay, Cornwall and was taken in by social services.

Police were unable to locate her parents and found the family home empty, reports The Sun.

Devon and Cornwall police tweeted: ‘One three-year-old child found in the street at 3.30am, parents not at home, child neglect investigation commenced.’ 

Later police confirmed a woman, 40, had been arrested on suspicion of child neglect. 

The NSPCC advise that as the law states no child should be left alone if they’ll be at risk, but say that children under 12 are not usually mature enough to be left alone.
