A number of police vehicles remain outside the property, including a police van, while three bouquets and a bible have been laid at the scene.

Police also said the incident has been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) but have not confirmed why.

‘Officers remain at the scene today carrying out enquiries.’

One resident on the road, who did not wish to be named, said he saw a man lying face down on the ground at the property last night after hearing screaming.

Another said they did not believe the victim lived at the address.

They said: ‘Apparently he turned up last night just as it was getting dark, two other guys turned up and all hell broke loose.

‘Police arrived and at one point three police cars shot into the industrial estate across the road.

‘This used to be a nice area but it’s gone downhill in the past few years.’

Other residents said at least one police helicopter was circling the estate last night as officers searched the area.

One householder said a blood-stained trainer was found nearby.
