Police arrest man for attempted murder after boy is stabbed next to a park in West London

  • A boy is in a life-threatening condition after being stabbed in Hanwell, Ealing

A young boy is in in hospital after he was stabbed near a park in West London earlier today.

The boy, who is believed to be a Year 10 student at Elthorne Park High School in Hanwell, Ealing, was found on Elthorne Park Road at the junction with Boston Road.

Police were called to a bus stop opposite a park at 5.44pm and the Air Ambulance Service brought the boy to hospital where his condition was at first life-threatening.

He is no longer in a life-threatening condition, it has been confirmed.

One man has been arrested for attempted murder and remains in police custody. 

A spokeswoman for Metropolitan police said: ‘Police were called to Elthorne Park Road at the junction with Boston Road, W7 at 17:44hrs following a report of a stabbing.

‘Officers and London Ambulance Service attended and found an injured boy, his condition is believed to be life-threatening.

‘The Air Ambulance Service are also attended and transported the victim to hospital. Next of kin are aware.

‘The road is closed while emergency services work at the scene.

‘One male has been arrested for attempted murder and is currently in police custody. Enquiries continue.

‘A Section 60 has been implemented until 04:00hrs on Saturday, 14 September throughout the boroughs of Ealing and Hounslow.’  

Elthorne Park Road, where at least three ambulances and two police cars could be seen, has been cordoned off.  

It comes just a day after a machete-wielding thug in a balaclava stabbed a man to death and left another injured in an attack in Camden in north London.

The hooded knifeman was seen pulling out the machete and running into a street leading off Camden High Street at around 11.10pm last night.

Police found the victim suffering from a stab injury and provided first aid, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. Another man was taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition. 

Friends said today the victim, who has not been named, was a ‘good loving, regular guy’ from the Somali community and was ‘in the wrong place at the wrong time.’  

It was the 107th killing in London so far this year.
