Police arrest two men on suspicion of murder after a woman in her fifties was found dead in her Essex home in the early hours of this morning

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman in her 50s was found dead at her home in the early hours of this morning.

Paramedics rushed to the scene, at an address off of Eastern Road in Burnham-on-Crouch, Essex.

It is a small road, with detached bungalows, close to Burnham train station and a village hall.

Detectives from Essex Police have now launched a murder investigation six hours later and two men have been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Police were called to reports that a woman had been seriously injured in an incident in the early hours of this morning, at around 12.30am.

But despite the best efforts of the East of England Ambulance Service, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The two men arrested currently remain in police custody.

Burnham-on-Crouch is a popular destination for day trippers and for yachtsmen as it sits on the banks of the River Crouch.
