Police arrest two over death of girl on seaside inflatable trampoline

A man and a woman have been arrested on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter over the death of a three-year-old girl on a seaside trampoline.

Little Ava-May Littleboy was thrown from the inflatable trampoline when it exploded as temperatures soared on the beach in Gorleston-on-Sea earlier this month.

Norfolk Police today confirmed they have arrested a man and a woman as part of their investigation, although they did not released the identities of those detained.

Ava-May Littleboy, three, died after she was thrown into the air from an inflatable trampoline on a beach in Gorleston, Norfolk

In a statement, Norfolk Police said: ‘A man and woman have been arrested on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter following the death of a girl in Gorleston.

‘Ava-May Littleboy, aged three, died after being thrown from an inflatable trampoline on the Lower Esplanade on Sunday, 1 July.

‘A man and a woman both aged in their 40s and both from the Great Yarmouth area, have been arrested in connection with the incident and are currently being held at Great Yarmouth Police Investigation Centre awaiting questioning.’

Ava-May was propelled 20ft into the air before crashing on to the sand in front of her horrified mother, Chloe, on the packed beach on July 1.

A lifeguard and paramedics batted in vain to revive the youngster after the horrific accident at 11am on Sunday, and she later died in hospital.

Ms Littleboy is thought to have paid £2 for her daughter to have five minutes on the equipment.

Ava-May’s heartbroken family said: ‘She was not your ordinary little girl, as anyone she met, she would leave a lasting impression on.

‘Anyone that met her would not want to forget her. Her infectious laugh and smile could light up even the darkest of rooms.’

The trampoline was part of a Bounce About area leased to local businessman, Curt Johnson.
