Video of New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman’s recent run-in with armed Connecticut police has surfaced, showing the moment that the 52-year-old executive was pulled over in what was thought to be a stolen vehicle.

Cashman recently told the New York Post that he was in his Jeep Wrangler when as many as nine Connecticut police officers stopped him while pulling out of a gas station in Darien, Connecticut.

The vehicle had been stolen in Norwalk, Connecticut, last week and since returned after being abandoned in the Bronx, but police in New York City hadn’t removed it from the stolen-car database.

So when a Darien police officer ran Cashman’s plates on Friday, he believed he had caught a car thief and promptly pulled over the 2017 MLB Executive of the Year.

First Cashman was ordered out of the car and told to walk backwards with his hands in the air

Although at least one officer can be seen with his gun pointed at Cashman, the mood quickly calmed as the officers began to grasp the situation. 'You look very familiar to me,' one of the officers is heard telling Cashman

Although at least one officer can be seen with his gun pointed at Cashman, the mood quickly calmed as the officers began to grasp the situation.

‘You look very familiar to me,’ one of the officers is heard telling Cashman.

‘I’m the GM of the New York Yankees,’ Cashman replied.

‘Yeah, I know,’ the cop answered. ‘I used to see you at Brook Street Bagels when I was an Eastchester cop. I apologize for the embarrassment.’

Cashman was driving the vehicle to Norwalk so it could be processed for evidence in the investigation into the original theft. He says Westchester police had called him prior to being stopped to warn him that the vehicle had been spotted and flagged as stolen.

‘They’re clearly very professional and trained and they asked me to turn my car off, exit the vehicle, walk backwards towards them … they were executing their duty,’ Cashman said of the experience.

The officers who pulled Cashman over escorted him to the Norwalk police department after the ordeal to avoid any further confusion.
