BREAKING NEWS: Police confirm one dead and at least nine others shot after multiple gunmen open fire at block party in Washington D.C.

One person has died and at least nine others were shot when multiple gunmen opened fire at a block party overnight in Washington D.C., police have revealed. 

The fatal shooting unfolded near the 3300 block of Dubois Place in Southeast at around 12:30am on Sunday. Multiple detectives and forensic squads are still at the scene as of 8:00am.

Police have confirmed that the victim is an adult male, though no further details have been offered at this time.  

At least nine others suffered gunshot woulds and were seen being rushed away from the scene in ambulances. Their conditions are unknown at this time.

Witnesses say the shooting occurred during a block party or cook out that was taking place in the middle of the residential street late last night, with hundreds of people attending.

Local resident George Benton uploaded footage of the shooting’s aftermath. He said he had been inside his home when he heard ‘about 100 gun shots’ ring out.

Benton said that officials at the scene said as many as 15 people were shot, including children. The Sixth District has not yet responded to a DailyMail,com request for comment on the ages or number of victims.
