Police hunt ‘baby-face’ thugs after man was attacked with belt and stabbed in the back

A group of teenage thugs are today being hunted by police after a man was stabbed in the back and hit in the face with a belt while he was out with his girlfriend.

Police said the 24 year-old man and his girlfriend were followed by a group of four or five youths as they walked out of a train station.

The man was then set upon by the gang, who savagely beat him in the face with a belt and kicked him on the ground after he was tripped up in the scuffle.

The victim managed to get up and run away in the direction of of a nearby road, but one of the youths chased after him and stabbed him in the back.

Police have released pictures of a group of teenage thugs who they are today trying to find 

The image has been released as part of an investigation following the assault, which happened on Sunday evening as the couple left Hilsea train station in Portsmouth, Hampshire.  

A spokesman for Hampshire Police said: ‘We’re releasing CCTV images as part of an investigation following an assault sometime between 9.30pm and 10.30pm on Sunday August 26.

‘A 24-year-old man and his girlfriend were followed by a group of four or five youths as they left Hilsea Train Station.

‘The man was tripped up and fell to the ground and was punched and kicked by the youths. He was also hit in the face with a belt.

‘The victim managed to get up and run away in the direction of Anchorage Road, however one of the youths chased him and stabbed him in the back as he reached the junction of Sywell Crescent in Anchorage Park.

‘Two of the suspects were described as: Suspect one – White boy, about 15-16-years-old, slim build, about 5′ 6’ tall, light-coloured hair, very light facial hair.

‘He was wearing a light-grey hoodie.

‘Suspect two – White boy, about 15-17-years-old skinny build, about 5′ 6’ tall, dark-coloured hair, dark hair on his top lip.

‘He was wearing a dark-coloured, waist-length jacket with the hood up

‘We’d like to hear from anyone who saw the youths or the assault, or anyone who recognises them from the CCTV images.’
