Police officer proposes to his partner before the start of his Christmas Day shift by writing ‘mummy, will you marry daddy?’ on their six-week-old son’s baby grow

  • The couple plan to celebrate later as they only had time for a ‘quick cup of tea’

A police officer found an innovative way to propose to his girlfriend before his Christmas Day shift by using their six-week-old son’s baby grow to pop the question.

PC Jamie Aston – who is based in Bangor, Gwynedd – surrounded baby Gruff with rose petals and dressed him in a baby grow that said ‘mummy, will you marry daddy?’

PC Aston, 28, was on one knee when Ffion, 28, came downstairs first thing this morning before his 7am shift.

He told the BBC: ‘I knew it would be special to include him in it and I knew my partner would appreciate that, so that was something I always wanted to do.’

He added: ‘She was shocked more than anything because I woke her up.

‘We had a quick cup of tea together and then I was off to work.’

The couple plan to celebrate their engagement later.

Earlier this month, one future groom used the Elf on the Shelf as part of his proposal.

His bride-to-be proudly shared a picture of the Elf clutching her engagement ring to Snapchat.

But the proposal was widely mocked when it was posted to the Facebook group, That’s It, I’m Proposal Shaming, by a Canadian user.

The group that boasts more than 12,000 members who enjoy critiquing marriage proposals from around the world, were quick to label the proposal as ‘tacky’ and childish.

Meanwhile, another asked why the unnamed fiancé was not man enough to do the job of proposing himself.
