Police officer tasers boy, 17, in front of stunned students at Middlesbrough College

Dramatic footage has emerged showing the moment a police officer tasers a 17-year-old boy – directly in front of his fellow college students.

But just moments later the sound of a taser sends shudders through the crowd as the teenager hits the ground with a thud.

Cleveland Police said that the student was ‘posing an on-going threat to staff and students’ and ‘injured the officer’ in the tussle. Leading to the use of a taser.

In the moments leading up to the incident, the police officer can be heard urging the student to let go.

Eventually several people try to restrain the teenager, but just moments later the taser is fired.

A spokesperson for Cleveland Police said: ‘During the arrest he resisted the officer, posing an on-going threat to staff and students, and injuring the officer.

‘This resulted in a taser deployment in line with national current use of force guidelines.

‘The 17-year-old did not suffer any adverse effects and no other students or staff suffered any injury during this incident which was brought swiftly to a safe conclusion.

‘He will be taken to custody and questioned.’

Once hit by the taser the student is no longer able to resist and lies still on the floor (pictured). Police say the taser was fired as the student was 'posing an on-going threat to staff and students' and 'injuring the officer'
