  • Emergency services responded to the scene near Market Place this afternoon
  • Police have confirmed a man was stabbed, but there have been no arrests

Police have partially closed Oxford Street after a person is ‘stabbed in broad daylight’.

Police and paramedics responded to the scene just after 5:30pm to reports of an assault on Market Place at the junction with Oxford Street.

Police have confirmed a man was stabbed, after a person was seen to be lying on the ground, but no arrests have been made.

The street has been closed to traffic at the junction of Great Portland Street.    

A Met spokeswoman said: ‘Officers attended and found a male suffering from a stab injury.

‘He was taken by the London Ambulance Service to a central London hospital; we await an update on his condition.

‘There have been no arrests.

‘Anyone with information is asked to call police via 101 quoting reference Cad 6404/08Aug.’
