Shocking footage has emerged showing the moment police met a car coming at them head-on as its driver mistakenly attempted to join the wrong side of a snowy motorway.
Officers had just come off the M62 near Saddleworth, Greater Manchester, this afternoon when they came across the vehicle facing the opposite direction.
The car pulled over to the side of the road having been just seconds away from a potentially fatal mistake.

The incident was captured on the dashboard camera of the police car at around 2.30pm.
Posting the footage on its Twitter page Greater Manchester Police Traffic wrote: ‘Junction 22 M62 vehicle came head on to one of our patrols. Could have been a lot worse if we hadn’t been there.’

The footage instantly provoked comments from shocked viewers expressing their disbelief.
