Dramatic footage shows policeman rescuing woman from burning building after he spots her hanging from window

A woman was rescued from a burning building after police spotted her hanging from the ledge of her second floor apartment window.
Officers were called to the building in the busy Paharganj area of Delhi after receiving reports from neighbours of a fire breaking out shortly after 6am local time.
It is understood that the fire started on the first floor leaving it difficult for residents on the second floor to get out via the stairwell.
The dramatic footage shows the woman clutching onto the windowsill for dear life as a team of police pull her up by her hands and then use a ladder to get her to the roof.
Smoke can be seen billowing from the window of her apartment that she shared with her husband as the inferno continues on the ground.
The video was filmed by a neighbour in the opposite building who alerted police that the woman was hanging from the grill to escape the inferno inside.
One of the policemen can be seen standing on the ledge and pulling her up while men on the roof brought down a ladder to reach the victims from the fourth floor of the building to the second floor.
Police arrived at the building shortly after 6am after receiving reports that a fire had broken out in the building by neighbours. They spotted the woman hanging from a window ledge
It is understood that the woman’s husband was also in the apartment and was pulled out shortly afterwards.
One of the police officials said: ‘Our men didn’t care about their lives when they reached the windowsill.
‘The woman who was hanging on to a balcony grill was saved first, later we rescued her husband in a similar manner.
The police man manages to pull the woman up before using a ladder to get her to safety. It is said that her husband was in the apartment but was rescued afterwards
The official also said that a man was forced to jump from his window after it was too late for him to escape through a stairwell; the man sustained minor injuries and is being treated at the nearby hospital.
Initially, the cops found the building inaccessible and had to break open the lock of the next door to reach the victims.
The firefighters were able to put out the fire shortly after the footage was taken.
It is said that the rescued couple are safe. It is not known how the fire was started.
