Police seize terrifying knife disguised as a CREDIT CARD

Police have seized a terrifying knife disguised as a credit card as similar items are available to buy on eBay for pennies.

Officers across the country are urging the public to hand over weapons this month in a no-questions-asked amnesty.

But police in West Yorkshire seized a hidden blade after discovering it on a detainee in Leeds.

Tweeting a picture after searching the arrested male, the officers labelled the device as a ‘credit card knife’ which could do ‘serious harm’.

The pocket-sized blades fit perfectly into wallets and purses but could have deadly consequences.

And MailOnline can reveal the same items are available on eBay for as little as 75p with free postage and packaging.

According to their website, the products are being sent from Shenzhen, China and so far 27 have been sold in the UK.

The seller, listed as weichen66, has a 98.6 per cent positive feedback and even offers to cover the delivery costs.

A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police has been contacted for comment about whether buying the items or not is classified as illegal.

WYP RPU posted on Twitter: ‘After a search of an arrested Male this was on him. A credit card knife. Could do some serious harm to all.’

Commenting on knife crime, West Yorkshire Police Detective Superintendent Pat Twiggs said: ‘Knife crime causes nothing but misery and will earn you a long prison sentence.

‘As a force we take knife crime extremely seriously and we want to reduce the amount of these weapons on our streets and to make sure they don’t fall into the wrong hands.

‘I would therefore appeal to anyone who knows of people carrying knives or other deadly weapons to contact us so we can take action.

‘We need the community to reject the idea that it is OK to carry a knife.

‘It could be your son or your daughter either being killed or seriously wounded – or starting a long prison sentence because of a minor argument.’

eBay has been contacted for comment.
