This is the amusing moment a group of ponies escaped from a field and invaded villagers’ front gardens before ending up at the local pub.

The 14 ponies were seen running down Owthorpe Lane and Main Street in Kinoulton, Nottinghamshire, yesterday.

Footage shows the ponies wandering as a group before breaking off and galloping across residents’ gardens and drive-ways.

One woman, who is seen holding her arms out to try and deter them from going any further, is heard telling them to ‘steady’.

The excitable ponies ended up at the Nevile Arms pub just after 11am.

The pub wrote on Facebook: ‘Delayed opening today. Busy getting these back home!!’

Alyson Edwards replied: ‘They want to sample your vegetarian menu.’

Landlady Trish Conway said the ponies came down the road and into the car park before residents and police managed to round them up in a nearby cul-de-sac.

She said: ‘It was just bonkers. Living rurally, we see a fair few horses, yet there was quite some difference when there were 14 going past the window at once.’

Ms Conway herded the ‘clever’ ponies with barmaid Emma until the owners were located.

‘They were clever ponies making their way to the pub that’s for sure.’

George Icke, who handles PR & Communications for the pub’s owners Raw Pubs LTD, said: ‘It was just another crazy day in the Vale of Belvoir, only this time the mayhem was caused by four legs instead of two.

‘Thankfully all the ponies are home safe now, and Raw Pubs would like to thank the locals who helped as well as Nottinghamshire’s Rushcliffe Police Team, for their fast response.’

Nottinghamshire Police said the owner was found and the ponies were walked back to their field in nearby Hickling.
