The hilarious moment a wild possum turned aspiring chef and bent over an empty bowl of pasta with spoon in hand, has been captured on film.

Footage shows the possum in the act of eating his dinner near an open door of the kitchen.

While the possum didn’t respond when the man asked, ‘are you gonna make us some pasta?’ it is apparently not unusual for the same critter to sneak in and steal some fruit from time to time.

The video opens with the man behind the camera making a slow approach to the possum, bent over an empty pasta dough with spoon in hand.

Repeatedly asking whether the possum was going to make some pasta for him too, the man edges closer to the possum before it leans in to sniff the lens.

When the man asks for his spoon back, the possum initially refuses, but eventually drops it loudly into the plastic bowl, giving himself a fright.

The cameraman picks up the spoon and offers it back to the guest, who leans in to nibble at his hand.

Not wanting to be bitten, the man drops the spoon into the bowl, causing a clatter and sending the possum running out the door in a scare.

The dinner guest scampers out of the kitchen, sending the bowl clattering off the table, only to be caught by a laughing cameraman.
