Poundland sparks outrage on Twitter in with its VERY rude advert for Cadbury’s chocolate fingers

That really takes the biscuit! Poundland sparks outrage on Twitter in with its VERY rude advert for Cadbury’s chocolate fingers

  • Twitter post shows model next to caption: ‘For a friend who loves a good finger!’
  • It comes two years after the company got in hot water after a similarly sexual ad
  • Many social media users were concerned by the variety store’s crass message
  • Yet there were some online who saw the funny side in the new Christmas advert

A new sexually-suggestive Poundland advert featuring a woman above a box of Cadbury’s Fingers has sparked outrage on social media.

A post on the company’s official Twitter page shows the model next to the line: ‘For a friend who loves a good finger! Cadbury’s Fingers – £1.’

It comes two years after the discount giant got in hot water after a similarly sexual advert involving an elf.

Some social media users seemed concerned by the variety store’s message, with one commenting: ‘Can’t see this ad staying up for long! Queue the PC brigade….’

One man wrote ‘crass like your company’, and another added: ‘god damn, Poundland!’

One woman said she was ‘speechless’, while another posted a gif of a referee giving a red card.

A Twitter user wrote: ‘Is it someone’s last day in the Poundland marketing team? And of course you have sexualised a female in the making of the advert. Nice one.’

And another woman added: ‘They’re at it again!!!!! Naughty Poundland.’

Yet there were some who saw the funny side in this year’s advert, with one man commenting: ‘How about a finger of fudge to finish you off!’

Another wrote: ‘I live for the Poundland Christmas ads.’

And a man added: ‘One of my colleagues once said she wasn’t sure if she wanted, 2 fingers, 4 fingers or a chunky one. I think she meant a Kitkat.’

The latest stunt comes two years after the discount giant tweeted a blizzard of bawdy images of an elf accompanied by racy captions for a PR campaign the store claimed cost just £25.

One image showed the red and white stuffed toy drawing a suspiciously-shaped cactus with the caption, ‘That’s one prickly Christmas tree’.

Another post showed the elf swinging a tea bag between his legs and posed the question, ‘how do you take your tea? One lump or two?’
